And from him, from several of our companions, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Ibn Abi Najran and Ali ibn al-Hakam, from Safwan al-Jammal, who said: I (narrator) asked Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, about ‘(zakat of) al-fitrah.’ Imam عليه السلام said: “It is upon the young and the old, the free and the slave; on behalf of every person, a sa’ of wheat, or a sa’ of dates, or a sa’ of raisins.”
