Al-Husayn ibn Sa’id from Muhammad ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hammad ibn Uthman and Hisham ibn Salim from Abu Abdillah عليه السلام, peace be upon him, who said: Imam al-Sadiq عليه السلام said: “The Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى bless him and his family, used to pronounce five takbirs (of Salat Al Mayyit) over some people and four over others. So if He صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم pronounced four takbirs over a man, he would be regarded with suspicion.” (meaning it was commanded to Prophet صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم to recite four takbir over the deceased hypocrites)
