And from him, from a group of our companions, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa, from Ali ibn al-Hakam, from Muhammad ibn Sulayman, from his father, who said: I went out with Abu al-Hasan Musa ibn Ja‘far عليه السلام, peace be upon them, to one of his properties. He عليه السلام stood to perform the noon prayer, and when He عليه السلام finished, He عليه السلام fell in prostration to Allah سبحانه وتعالى. I heard him, in a sorrowful voice, with tears choking him, saying: “My Lord عز وجل, I disobeyed You عز وجل with my tongue, and if You عز وجل had willed, by Your عز وجل might, You عز وجل would have rendered me mute. I disobeyed You عز وجل with my sight, and if You عز وجل had willed, by Your عز وجل might, You عز وجل would have blinded me. I disobeyed You عز وجل with my hearing, and if You عز وجل had willed, by Your عز وجل might, You عز وجل would have made me deaf. I disobeyed You عز وجل with my hand, and if You عز وجل had willed, by Your عز وجل might, You عز وجل would have crippled me. I disobeyed You عز وجل with my foot, and if You عز وجل had willed, by Your عز وجل might, You عز وجل would have amputated me. I disobeyed You عز وجل with my private part, and if You عز وجل had willed, by Your عز وجل might, You عز وجل would have made me barren. I disobeyed You عز وجل with all of my limbs which You عز وجل bestowed upon me, and this is not the proper response to Your عز وجل favor upon me.” Then he (narrator) said: “I counted a thousand times as Imam عليه السلام said: “‘Al-‘afw, al-‘afw (Forgiveness, forgiveness)’.” Then He عليه السلام placed his right cheek on the ground, and I (narrator) heard Him عليه السلام say in a sorrowful voice: “I return to You عز وجل with my sin. I have done evil and wronged myself, so forgive me, for no one forgives sins but You عز وجل, O my Master.” (Three times) Then He عليه السلام placed his left cheek on the ground, and I (narrator) heard Him عليه السلام say: “Have mercy on one who has done wrong, committed sins, submitted himself in humility, and confessed.” (Three times) Then He عليه السلام raised his head.
