Hadith #152

وَعَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ اَلْحُسَيْنِ عَنِ اِبْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ اَلْبَخْتَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ:« يَنْبَغِي لِلْإِمَامِ أَنْ يُسْمِعَ مَنْ خَلْفَهُ اَلتَّشَهُّدَ وَ لاَ يُسْمِعُونَهُ شَيْئاً»

And from him, from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn, from Ibn Abi Umayr, from Hafs ibn al-Bukhtari: Abu Abdillah said: “It is appropriate for the imam (of prayer) to make the ‘tashahhud’ audible to those behind him, and they should not make anything audible to him.”
