Chapter on the Description of Ablution (Wudu)

Hadith #48

وَ بِهَذَا اَلْإِسْنَادِ عَنِ اَلْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ اِبْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ جَمِيلٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ: «اَلْمَضْمَضَةُ وَ اَلاِسْتِنْشَاقُ لَيْسَا مِنَ اَلْوُضُوءِ».

Through the same chain of transmission, from al-Husayn ibn Saʿid, from Ibn Abi ʿUmayr, from Jamil, from Zurarah, from Abu Jaʿfar : Imam said: "Rinsing the mouth (Madmada) and sniffing water into the nose (Istinshaq) are not part of ablution (Wuduʾ)."
