2. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn Mirdas from Safwan ibn Yahya’ and al-Hassan ibn Mahbub from Hisham ibn Salim from ‘Ammar al-Sabatiy who has said the following:
“Abu ’Abd Allah , once said to me, ‘O ‘Ammar, giving charity, by Allah, out of public sight, is more virtuous than giving charity publicly. In the same way, worshipping Allah out of public sight is more virtuous than worshipping Him in public.’ ”
