و عاش أكثم بن صيفي أحد بني أسد بن عمرو بن تميم ثلاثمائة و ستين سنة و قال بعضهم مائة و تسعين سنة و أدرك الإسلام فاختلف في إسلامه إلا أن أكثرهم لا يشك في أنه لم يسلم فقال في ذلك- و إن امرءا قد عاش تسعين حجة إلى مائة لم يسأم العيش جاهل خلت مائتان غير ست و أربع و ذلك من عد الليالي قلائل.
Imad bin Shaddad Yarbui’ lived for a hundred and fifty years. Aktham bin Saifi from the progeny of Asad bin Amr bin Tameem lived for three hundred and sixty years. Some say that he lived for one hundred and ninety years. He saw the time of Islam. There is difference of opinion whether he accepted Islam or not. Most people say that he did not accept Islam. He said about this: Certainly, a man should spend ninety years of life If it is extended by hundred more years then an ignorant (person) does not become wary of life If six and four are subtracted from two hundred then one hundred and ninety would remain It is when nights are also counted.
