حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْيَرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى مَوْلَانَا أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْعَسْكَرِيِّ عليه السلام فَقَالَ يَا أَحْمَدُ مَا كَانَ حَالُكُمْ فِيمَا كَانَ فِيهِ النَّاسُ مِنَ الشَّكِّ وَ الِارْتِيَابِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ يَا سَيِّدِي لَمَّا وَرَدَ الْكِتَابُ لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنَّا رَجُلٌ وَ لَا امْرَأَةٌ وَ لَا غُلَامٌ بَلَغَ الْفَهْمَ إِلَّا قَالَ بِالْحَقِّ فَقَالَ احْمَدِ اللَّهَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ يَا أَحْمَدُ أَ مَا عَلِمْتُمْ أَنَّ الْأَرْضَ لَا تَخْلُو مِنْ حُجَّةٍ وَ أَنَا ذَلِكَ الْحُجَّةُ أَوْ قَالَ أَنَا الْحُجَّةُ.
Narrated to us my father; and Muhammad bin Hasan - May Allah be pleased with them - they said: Narrated to us Abdullah bin Ja’far Himyari: Narrated to us Ahmad bin Ishaq: I went to our master, Abi Muhammad Hasan bin Ali al-Askari and he asked: “O Ahmad what is your condition regarding which people are confused?” I said, “O my Chief, none of us including men, women and even youths have any scope in doubting those matters that are clearly mentioned in the Quran.” The Imam said, “Thanks to Allah for this, O Ahmad; don’t you know that the earth is never devoid of the Divine Proof? And I am that Divine Proof” or he said, “I am the Divine Proof.”
