حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ إِمْلَاءً قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ص قَالَ: إِنِّي أَوْشَكَ أَنْ أُدْعَى فَأُجِيبَ وَ إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ عِتْرَتِي كِتَابُ اللَّهِ حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَ الْأَرْضِ وَ عِتْرَتِي أَهْلُ بَيْتِي وَ إِنَّ اللَّطِيفَ الْخَبِيرَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ فَانْظُرُوا بِمَا ذَا تَخْلُفُونِّي فِيهِمَا.
Narrated to us Muhammad bin Ja’fra bin Husain Baghdadi: Narrated to us Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz by dictation: Narrated to us Bishr bin Walid: Narrated to us Muhammad bin Talha from Amash from Atiyyah bin Saad from Abi Saeed Khudri that the Prophet ﷺ said: “I feel that I shall be summoned (to Allah soon) and I will accept the call. And I leave among you two important things. The Book of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, and my progeny. The Book of Allah is a rope stretching between the heavens and the earth – and my progeny – my Ahlul Bayt – indeed, the Kind and the Informed One has informed me that the two of them shall not separate from each other till they arrive to me at the Pool (of Kauthar). So be careful how you take them as my successors.”
