5402 - رَوَى اَلْحَسَنُ بْنُ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ : " أَنَا سَيِّدُ اَلنَّبِيِّينَ وَ وَصِيِّي سَيِّدُ اَلْوَصِيِّينَ وَ أَوْصِيَاؤُهُ سَادَةُ اَلْأَوْصِيَاءِ إِنَّ آدَمَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ سَأَلَ اَللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ لَهُ وَصِيّاً صَالِحاً فَأَوْحَى اَللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَيْهِ "إِنِّي أَكْرَمْتُ اَلْأَنْبِيَاءَ بِالنُّبُوَّةِ ثُمَّ اِخْتَرْتُ مِنْ خَلْقِي خَلْقاً وَ جَعَلْتُ خِيَارَهُمُ اَلْأَوْصِيَاءَ" فَأَوْحَى اَللَّهُ تَعَالَى ذِكْرُهُ إِلَيْهِ "يَا آدَمُ أَوْصِ إِلَى شِيثٍ " فَأَوْصَى آدَمُ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ إِلَى شِيثٍ وَ هُوَ هِبَةُ اَللَّهِ بْنُ آدَمَ وَ أَوْصَى شِيثٌ إِلَى اِبْنِهِ شَبَّانَ وَ هُوَ اِبْنُ نَزْلَةَ اَلْحَوْرَاءِ اَلَّتِي أَنْزَلَهَا اَللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ عَلَى آدَمَ مِنَ اَلْجَنَّةِ فَزَوَّجَهَا اِبْنَهُ شِيثاً وَ أَوْصَى شَبَّانُ إِلَى محلث وَ أَوْصَى محلث إِلَى محوق وَ أَوْصَى محوق إِلَى غثميشا وَ أَوْصَى غثميشا إِلَى أَخْنُوخَ وَ هُوَ إِدْرِيسُ اَلنَّبِيُّ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ وَ أَوْصَى إِدْرِيسُ إِلَى نَاحُورَ وَ دَفَعَهَا نَاحُورُ إِلَى نُوحٍ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ وَ أَوْصَى نُوحٌ إِلَى سَامٍ وَ أَوْصَى سَامٌ إِلَى عَثَامِرَ وَ أَوْصَى عَثَامِرُ إِلَى برغيثاشا وَ أَوْصَى برغيثاشا إِلَى يَافِثَ وَ أَوْصَى يَافِثُ إِلَى برة وَ أَوْصَى برة إِلَى جفسية وَ أَوْصَى جفسية إِلَى عِمْرَانَ وَ دَفَعَهَا عِمْرَانُ إِلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ اَلْخَلِيلِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ وَ أَوْصَى إِبْرَاهِيمُ إِلَى اِبْنِهِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَ أَوْصَى إِسْمَاعِيلُ إِلَى إِسْحَاقَ وَ أَوْصَى إِسْحَاقُ إِلَى يَعْقُوبَ وَ أَوْصَى يَعْقُوبُ إِلَى يُوسُفَ وَ أَوْصَى يُوسُفُ إِلَى بَثْرِيَاءَ وَ أَوْصَى بَثْرِيَاءُ إِلَى شُعَيْبٍ وَ دَفَعَهَا شُعَيْبٌ إِلَى مُوسَى بْنِ عِمْرَانَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ وَ أَوْصَى مُوسَى بْنُ عِمْرَانَ إِلَى يُوشَعَ بْنِ نُونٍ وَ أَوْصَى يُوشَعُ بْنُ نُونٍ إِلَى دَاوُدَ وَ أَوْصَى دَاوُدُ إِلَى سُلَيْمَانَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ وَ أَوْصَى سُلَيْمَانُ إِلَى آصَفَ بْنِ بَرْخِيَا وَ أَوْصَى آصَفُ بْنُ بَرْخِيَا إِلَى زَكَرِيَّا وَ دَفَعَهَا زَكَرِيَّا إِلَى عِيسَى اِبْنِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ وَ أَوْصَى عِيسَى اِبْنُ مَرْيَمَ إِلَى شَمْعُونَ بْنِ حَمُّونَ اَلصَّفَا وَ أَوْصَى شَمْعُونُ إِلَى يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا وَ أَوْصَى يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا إِلَى مُنْذِرٍ وَ أَوْصَى مُنْذِرٌ إِلَى سُلَيْمَةَ وَ أَوْصَى سُلَيْمَةُ إِلَى بُرْدَةَ " "ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ " "وَ دَفَعَهَا إِلَيَّ بُرْدَةُ وَ أَنَا أَدْفَعُهَا إِلَيْكَ يَا عَلِيُّ وَ أَنْتَ تَدْفَعَهَا إِلَى وَصِيِّكَ وَ يَدْفَعُهَا وَصِيُّكَ إِلَى أَوْصِيَائِكَ مِنْ وُلْدِكَ وَاحِدٍ بَعْدَ وَاحِدٍ حَتَّى تُدْفَعَ إِلَى خَيْرِ أَهْلِ اَلْأَرْضِ بَعْدَكَ وَ لَتَكْفُرَنَّ بِكَ اَلْأُمَّةُ وَ لَتَخْتَلِفَنَّ عَلَيْكَ اِخْتِلاَفاً شَدِيداً اَلثَّابِتُ عَلَيْكَ كَالْمُقِيمِ مَعِي وَ اَلشَّاذُّ عَنْكَ فِي اَلنَّارِ وَ اَلنَّارُ مَثْوَى اَلْكَافِرِينَ."

Hadith.5402 - Al-Hasan ibn Mahbub narrated from Muqatil ibn Sulayman from Abu Abdullah who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: "I am the master of the prophets, and my successor is the master of the successors, and his successors are the masters of the successors. Indeed, Adam asked Allah , the Glorious and Exalted, to appoint for him a righteous successor. Allah , the Glorious and Exalted, revealed to him: 'I have honored the prophets with prophethood, and then I selected from My creation individuals and made the best among them the successors.' So Allah , Exalted is His remembrance, revealed to him: 'O' Adam, appoint Seth as your successor.' Thus, Adam appointed Seth, who is the Gift of Allah , son of Adam, as his successor. Seth then appointed his son Shabban as his successor, and Shabban was the son of Nazla Al-Hawra, whom Allah , the Glorious and Exalted, sent down to Adam from Paradise, and Adam married her to his son Seth. Shabban appointed Muhlith as his successor, Muhlith appointed Mahuq, Mahuq appointed Ghathmisha, Ghathmisha appointed Akhnukh, who is Prophet Idris . Idris appointed Nahur, and Nahur passed it on to Nuh . Nuh appointed his son Sam, Sam appointed Athamir, and Athamir appointed Barghithasha. And Barghithasha appointed Yafith as his successor, Yafith appointed Barra, Barra appointed Jafsiya, Jafsiya appointed Imran, and Imran entrusted it to Ibrahim Al-Khalil . Ibrahim appointed his son Ismail, Ismail appointed Ishaq, Ishaq appointed Yaqub, Yaqub appointed Yusuf, Yusuf appointed Bathriya, Bathriya appointed Shuayb, and Shuayb entrusted it to Musa ibn Imran . Musa ibn Imran appointed Yusha ibn Nun, Yusha ibn Nun appointed Dawud, Dawud appointed Sulayman , Sulayman appointed Asif ibn Barkhiya, Asif ibn Barkhiya appointed Zakariya, and Zakariya entrusted it to Isa ibn Maryam . Isa ibn Maryam appointed Shamun ibn Hamun Al-Safa, Shamun appointed Yahya ibn Zakariya, Yahya ibn Zakariya appointed Mundhir, Mundhir appointed Sulaymah, and Sulaymah appointed Burdah." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: "Burdah entrusted it to me, and I now entrust it to you, O' Ali . You will entrust it to your successor , and your successor will entrust it to his successors from your offspring, one after another, until it reaches the best of the people of the earth after you. Surely, the nation will disbelieve in you, and they will differ greatly over you. The one who remains steadfast with you is like the one who remains with me , and the one who separates from you will be in the Fire, and the Fire is the abode of the disbelievers."

Authentic reports with strong chains of transmission have been narrated stating that the Messenger of Allah سبحانه وتعالى (peace be upon him and his family), by the command of Allah سبحانه وتعالى the Exalted, appointed Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib عليه السلام as his successor. Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib عليه السلام appointed Imam Hasan ibn Ali عليه السلام, Imam Hasan ibn Ali عليه السلام appointed Imam Hussain ibn Ali عليه السلام, Imam Hussain ibn Ali عليه السلام appointed Imam Ali ibn Al-Hussain عليه السلام, Imam Ali ibn Al-Hussain عليه السلام appointed Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir عليه السلام, Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir عليه السلام appointed Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq عليه السلام, Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq عليه السلام appointed Imam Musa ibn Jafar Al-Kadhim عليه السلام, Imam Musa ibn Jafar Al-Kadhim عليه السلام appointed his son Imam Ali ibn Musa Ar-Ridha عليه السلام, Imam Ali ibn Musa Ar-Ridha عليه السلام appointed his son Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Jawad عليه السلام, Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Jawad عليه السلام appointed his son Imam Ali ibn Muhammad Al-Hadi عليه السلام, Imam Ali ibn Muhammad Al-Hadi عليه السلام appointed his son Imam Hasan ibn Ali Al-Askari عليه السلام, and Imam Hasan ibn Ali Al-Askari عليه السلام appointed his son, the Proof of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Riser with the Truth Imam Muhammad ibn Hassan Al-Mahdi عليه السلام. If only one day remained in this world, Allah سبحانه وتعالى would prolong that day until the Qaim عليه السلام appears and fills the earth with justice and fairness just as it had been filled with oppression and injustice. May Allah's سبحانه وتعالى blessings be upon Him عليه السلام and upon his pure forefathers عليه السلام.
