Hadith.3413 - Amr ibn Shimr narrated from Jabir, from Abu Ja'far Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir عليه السلام, from his father, from his grandfather, from Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib عليه السلام:
He ruled in a case where two men disputed over a reed fence (khuss).
Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib عليه السلام said: "The fence belongs to the one to whom the boundary rope (al-qimat) is attached."
The compiler of this book (may Allah سبحانه وتعالى have mercy on him) explained that the 'khuss' refers to a structure made of reeds, commonly found in rural areas between houses.
The 'qimat' is the fastening of a rope, indicating that the ownership of the fence is determined by whose side the rope is tied. Some have also said that 'qimat' refers to a stone used to secure the door.
