Chapter on the Reasons Behind Hajj
Hadith #19
وَ رُوِيَ:
«إِنَّهَا سُمِّيَتْ مِنًى لِأَنَّ، إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ تَمَنَّى هُنَاكَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ اَللَّهُ مَكَانَ اِبْنِهِ كَبْشاً يَأْمُرُهُ بِذَبْحِهِ فِدْيَةً لَهُ ».
"It has been narrated that it was named Mina because Ibrahim
عليه السلام
wished there that Allah
سبحانه وتعالى
would replace his son with a ram, commanding him to sacrifice it as a ransom for his son."
