والزكاة على تسعة أشياء: على الحنطة، والشعير، والتمر، والزبيب، والابل، والبقر، والغنم، والذهب، والفضة، وعفا رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) عما سوى ذلك، ولا يجوز دفع الزكاة إلا إلى أهل الولاية، ولا يعطى من أهل الولاية الابوان والولد والزوج والزوجة والمملوك وكل من يجبر الرجل على نفقته.
Zakat is upon nine things: upon wheat, barley, dates, raisins, camels, cattle, sheep, gold and silver, and the Messenger of Allah (s) pardoned what was apart from that. It is not permissible to pay the zakat to anyone other than the people of walaya. From the people of walaya it is not permissible to give to one’s parents, one’s child, one’s husband, one’s wife, one’s slave and anyone for whose expense the man is obliged.
