By this isnad from Ibrahim b. Muhammad al-Thaqafi from `Ali b. Hilal al-Ahmasi. He said: Sharik narrated to us from `Abd al-Malik b. `Umayr. He said: Al-Hajjaj sent for Yahya b. Ya`mur, and he said to him: Are you the one that alleges that the two sons of `Ali are the sons of the Messenger of Allah? He said: Yes, and I could recite that from the Quran for you. He said: Give it. He said: Grant me protection. He said: Protection is yours. He said: Doesn’t Allah say, “We bestowed him with Ishaq and Ya`qub, and We guided all of them. And Nuh, We guided before; and among his descendants, Dawud, Sulayman, Ayyub, Yusuf, Musa, and Harun – thus We reward the doers of good” (6:84)? Then, he said, “And Zakariyya, Yahya, and `Isa” (6:85) – did `Isa have a father? He said: No. He said: Yet Allah attributed him to Ibrahim in the scripture. He said: What caused you to narrate this? He said: Allah did not command the scholars to conceal knowledge from being taught.
