Muhammad b. `Ali Majiluwayh
narrated to us. He said: My uncle Muhammad b. Abi’l Qasim narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Ali al-Sayrafi al-Kufi narrated to me. He said: Muhammad b. Sinan narrated to us from Aban b. `Uthman al-Ahmar. He said: I said to al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad :
Inform me about Allah: Does He not cease in hearing, seeing, knowing, and being powerful? He said: Yes. So, I said to him: There is a man who claims to be upon your wilaya, the Ahl al-Bayt, and he says: “Allah does not cease in seeing through sight, and hearing through [an instrument of] hearing, and knowing through knowledge, and being powerful through [an instrument of] power.” So, he became angry, then said: He who says this and takes his religion from this is a pagan that is not upon our wilaya in a thing. Surely, Allah is knowing, hearing, seeing, and powerful [without the aid of anything].
