Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Husayn al-Sa`d Abadi narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid narrated to us from his father from Muhammad b. Sinan from al-Mufaddal b. `Umar from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his grandfather .

He said: Al-Husayn b. `Ali was asked – it was said to him: How was your morning, O son of the Messenger of Allah? He said: I awoke with a Lord above me, the Fire before me, death seeking me, and the Judgment staring at me. I am dependant upon my deeds. I cannot find what I love, nor can I repel what I hate. The affairs are in the hand of one other than me – if He wills, He may punish me, and if He wills, He may pardon me. Which poor person is poorer than me?!
