On this day, after the majlis, Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Ali Majiluwayh narrated to us. He said: My uncle Muhammad b. Abi’l Qasim narrated to us from Muhammad b. `Ali al-Kufi from Muhammad b. Sinan from al-Mufaddal b. `Umar from Jabir b. Yazid from Sa`id b. al-Musayyib from `Abd al-Rahman b. Samara. He said:

I said: O Messenger of Allah! Guide me to salvation. So, he said: O Ibn Samara! When the whims differ and when sights diverge, take to `Ali b. Abi Talib, for he is the Imam of my Nation and my vicegerent over them after me. He is the criterion who will distinguish between truth and falsehood. Whoever asks him [a question], he will answer him. Whoever seeks direction from him will be directed by him. Whoever demands a right from him will find it. Whoever seeks guidance from him will encounter it. Whoever seeks refuge in him will be safe. Whoever holds onto him will be saved. Whoever emulates him will be guided. O Ibn Samara! Those who make peace with him and align with him will be at peace; and those who renege from him and oppose him will perish. O Ibn Samara! `Ali is from me, his spirit is from my spirit, and his clay is from my clay. He is my brother, and I am his brother. He is the husband of my daughter Fatima, the Mistress of the Women of the Worlds from the former and the latter peoples. From him are two Imams from my Nation and the two Masters of the Youth of Paradise, al-Hasan and al-Husayn; and nine from the descendants of al-Husayn. Their ninth is the Qa’im from my Nation, who will fill Earth with justice and peace as it will be fraught with injustice and oppression.
