4 - حدثنا محمد بن أحمد السناني، قال: حدثنا محمد بن أبي عبد الله الكوفي، عن موسى بن عمران النخعي، عن عمه الحسين بن يزيد النوفلي، عن محمد بن سنان، عن المفضل بن عمر، عن يونس بن ظبيان، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهم السلام)، أنه قال:
الاشهار (4) بالعبادة ريبة، إن أبي حدثني عن أبيه، عن جده، عن علي (عليهم السلام): أن رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) قال: أعبد الناس من أقام الفرائض، وأسخى الناس من أدى زكاة ماله، وأزهد الناس من اجتنب الحرام، وأتقى الناس من قال الحق فيما له وعليه، وأعدل الناس من رضي للناس ما يرضى لنفسه، وكره لهم ما يكره لنفسه، وأكيس الناس من كان أشد ذكرا للموت، وأغبط الناس من كان تحت التراب قد أمن العقاب ويرجو الثواب، وأغفل الناس من لم يتعظ بتغير الدنيا من حال إلي حال، وأعظم الناس في الدنيا خطرا من لم يجعل للدنيا عنده خطرا، وأعلم الناس من جمع علم الناس إلى علمه، وأشجع الناس من غلب هواه، وأكثر الناس قيمة أكثرهم علما، وأقل الناس قيمة أقلهم علما، وأقل الناس لذة الحسود، وأقل الناس راحة البخيل، وأبخل الناس من بخل بما افترض الله عز وجل عليه، وأولى الناس بالحق أعلمهم (1) به. وأقل الناس حرمة الفاسق، وأقل الناس وفاء الملوك، وأقل الناس صديقا الملك وأفقر الناس الطمع، وأغنى الناس من لم يكن للحرص أسيرا، وأفضل الناس إيمانا أحسنهم خلقا، وأكرم الناس أتقاهم، وأعظم الناس قدرا من ترك ما لا يعنيه، وأورع الناس من ترك المراء وإن كان محقا، وأقل الناس مروءة من كان كاذبا، وأشقى الناس الملوك، وأمقت الناس المتكبر، وأشد الناس اجتهادا من ترك الذنوب. وأحلم الناس من فر من جهال الناس، وأسعد الناس من خالط كرام الناس، وأعقل الناس أشدهم مداراة للناس، وأولى الناس بالتهمة من جالس أهل التهمة، وأعتى الناس من قتل غير قاتله، أو ضرب غير ضاربه، وأولى الناس بالعفو أقدرهم على العقوبة، وأحق الناس بالذنب السفيه المغتاب، وأذل الناس من أهان الناس، وأحزم الناس أكظمهم للغيظ، وأصلح الناس أصلحهم للناس، وخير الناس من انتفع به الناس (2).
Muhammad b. Ahmad al-Sinani narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Abi `Abdullah al-Kufi narrated to us from Musa b. `Imran al-Nakha`i from his uncle al-Husayn b. Yazid al-Nawfali from Muhammad b. Sinan from al-Mufaddal b. `Umar from Yunus b. Thibyan from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad that he said:
Gaining fame through worship is a suspicion. Surely, my father narrated to me from his father from his grandfather that `Ali [said]: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: The most servile of people is one who establishes the obligations. The most generous of people is one who gives the zakat of his wealth. The most ascetic of people is one who avoids the forbidden. The most Godfearing of people is one who speaks the truth, whether it is for him or against him. The most just of people is one who wants for people what he wants for himself and hates for them what he hates for himself. The most mannered of people is one who frequently remembers death. The most blessed of people is one who, when he is under dust, seeks refuge from punishment and hopes for reward. The most heedless of people is one who does not benefit from the world’s changes from state to state. The greatest danger to the world is one who does not consider this world to be a danger to him. The most knowledgeable of people is one who adds the knowledge of the people to his knowledge. The boldest of people is one who conquers his desires. The most dignified of people is one who is most knowledgeable, and the least dignified of people is one who is least knowledgeable. The least delightful of people is one who is envious. The least affable of people is one who is stingy. The stingiest of people is one who is stingy in that which Allah has obliged for him. The most rightful of people is the most knowledgeable of them. The least sanctified of people is the depraved (fasiq). The least loyal of people are the kings. The least trustworthy of people is the king, and the poorest person is the greedy. The wealthiest person is one who is not a prisoner to his own protectiveness. The best person in faith is the best of them in character. The noblest of people is the most Godfearing. The greatest of people in strength is one who leaves what does not concern him. The most pious of people is one who abandons argumentation, even if he is right. The least chivalrous of people is a liar. The most wretched of people are the kings. The most abhorrent of people is the prideful. The most striving of people is one who abandons sin. The most forbearing of people is one who runs from the ignorance of the people. The happiest of people is one who mixes with the noblest people. The most intellectual of people is the politest to the people. The most blameworthy person is one who sits with those who blame. The most notorious of people is one who kills someone who was not fighting him or strikes someone who was not striking him. The person most worthy of pardon is one who is most capable of punishing others [but refrains]. The person most worthy of guilt is the foolish slanderer. The lowest of people is one who insults people. The most determined of people is one who withholds his anger. The most righteous of people is one who is righteous to the people. And, the best of people is one whom the people benefit from.
