Ahmad b. Ziyad b. Ja`far al-Hamadani
narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us from his father from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Safwan b. Yahya from al-`Is b. al-Qasim from `Abdullah b. Muskan from Abi Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir . He said:
Love your Muslim brother. Love for him what you love for yourself. Hate for him what you hate for yourself. If you need something, ask him for it, and if he asks you, then give to him. Do not spare him from goodness as he does not spare you from goodness. Be a back to him as he is a back to you. When he goes, then protect [his belongings] in his absence. When he is present, visit him. Honour him, for he is from you and you are from him. If he blames you, then do not depart from him until you seek his forgiveness and [ask him to speak] his mind. If a good thing happens to him, then praise Allah for it, and if he suffers, then support him and share in his burden.
