`Ali b. Ahmad b. `Abdullah b. Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to me from his grandfather Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah from his father from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from another person from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers . He said:

A man from the companions of Amir al-Mu’minin had a doubt regarding his women. So, he delivered a sermon and said: O people! Do not obey women under any condition, do not trust them with wealth, and do not leave them to run the affairs of families, for if they are left to do what they wish, they will want devastation and power, for we have seen that they have no piety with regards to their needs, and they have no patience with regards to their desires. Extravagance is a necessity for them, even if they have grown up. Astonishment follows them, even if they have grown old. They are not thankful for the many when they are prevented from the few. They forget good things, but they remember evil things. They are infatuated with the fleeting, they reach for defiance, and they defy on Satan’s behalf. So, turn away from them in every condition. Speak beautifully to them, and perhaps they will beautify their actions.
