دُعَاؤُهُ لِجِيرَانِهِ وَ أَوْلِيَائِهِ

For his Neighbours and Friends

أللَّهُمَّ صَـلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِـهِ
allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā muḥammad wa ālih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household
2
وَتَـوَلَّنِي فِي جيرَانِي وَمَوَالِيَّ وَالْعَارِفِينَ بحَقِّنَا وَالْمُنَابِذِينَ لأِعْدَائِنَا بِأَفْضَلِ وَلاَيَتِكَ،
wa tawallani fi jirani wa mawaliyya wal-ʿarifin bihaqqina wal-munabithin li-aʿda'ina bi-afḍalī wilayat
and attend to me with Thy best attending in my neighbours and friends who recognize our right and war against our enemies!

وَوَفِّقْهُمْ لإقَامَةِ سُنَّتِكَ
wa waffiqhum li-iqāmati sunnatika
Give [my neighbours and friends] success in performing Thy prescriptions
4
وَالأَخْذِ بِمَحَاسِنِ أَدَبِكَ فِي إرْفَاقِ ضَعِيفِهِمْ،
wa al-akhḏi bi maḥāsin adabika fī ʾirfāqi ḍaʿīfihim
and taking on the beauties of Thy courtesy through acting gently with their weak,
5
وَسَدِّ خَلَّتِهِمْ، وَعِيَادَةِ مَرِيضِهِمْ،
wa saddi khallatihim, wa ʿiyadati mariḍihim
remedying their lacks, visiting their sick,
6
وَهِدَايَةِ مُسْتَرْشِدِهِمْ، وَمُنَاصَحَةِ مُسْتَشِيرِهِمْ،
wa-hidāyatim mustarshiḍihim, wa-munāṣaḥatim mustashirihim
guiding their seeker of right guidance, giving good counsel to their seeker of advice,
7
وَتَعَهُّدِ قَادِمِهِمْ، وَكِتْمَانِ أَسْرَارِهِمْ،
wa taʿahhud qadimihim, wa kitman asrarihim
attending to the one among them who returns from travel, hiding their secrets,
8
وَسَتْرِ عَوْرَاتِهِمْ، وَنُصْرَةِ مَظْلُومِهِمْ،
wa satri ʿawrātihim, wa nuṣrati maẓlūmihim
covering over their shameful things, helping their wronged,
9
وَحُسْنِ مُوَاسَاتِهِمْ بِالْمَاعُونِ،
waḥusni muwāsātihim bil-māʿūn
sharing kindly with them in goods,
10
وَالْعَوْدِ عَلَيْهِمْ بِـالْجِـدَةِ وَالإِفْضَـالِ،
wal-ʿawdi ʿalayhim bil-jidati wal-i’fdhāl
turning toward them with wealth and bestowal of bounty,
11
وَإعْطَآءِ مَـا يَجِبُ لَهُمْ قَبْلَ السُّؤالِ
wa-iʿṭāʾi mā yajibu lahum qabla al-suʾāl
and giving what is due to them before they ask!
12
واجْعَلْنِي اللَّهُمَّ أَجْزِي بِالإحْسَانِ مُسِيْئَهُمْ،
wajʿalni allāhumma ajzi bil-iḥsāni musīʾahum
Let me, O God, repay their evildoer with good-doing,
13
وَاعْرِضُ بِالتَّجَاوُزِ عَنْ ظَالِمِهِمْ،
waʿridhu bi-ttajāwuzi ʿan ẓalimihim
turn away from their wrongdoer with forbearance.
14
وَأَسْتَعْمِلْ حُسْنَ الظّنِّ فِي كَافَّتِهِمْ، وَأَتَوَلَّى بِالْبِرِّ عَامَّتَهُمْ،
wa-astʿmil husna al-ẓunni fī kaffatihim, wa-atawallā bilbirri ʿāmmatahum
have a good opinion of every one of them, attend to all of them with devotion,
15
وَأَغُضُّ بَصَرِي عَنْهُمْ عِفَّةً،
wa-aġuddu baṣarī 'anhum 'iffatan
lower my eyes before them in continence,
16
وَألِينُ جَانِبِيْ لَهُمْ تَوَاضُعاً،
wa'alīnu jānibī lahum tawāḍuʿan
make mild my side toward them in humility,
17
وَأَرِقُّ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْبَلاءِ مِنْهُمْ رَحْمَةً،
wa'ariqqu ʿalaa ahli-l-balaa'i minhum rahmatan
be tender toward the afflicted among them in mercy,
18
وَأسِرُّ لَهُمْ بِالْغَيْبِ مَوَدَّةً،
wa-asirru lahum bil-ghaybi mawaddatan
make them happy in absence through affection,
19
وَأُحِبُّ بَقَاءَ النِّعْمَةِ عِنْدَهُمْ نُصْحاً،
wa ʾuḥibbu baqāʾa al-niʿmati ʿindahum nuṣḥan
love that they continue to receive favour through good will,
20
وَاُوجِبُ لَهُمْ مَا اُوجِبُ لِحَامَّتِي،
wa ujibu lahum ma ujibu lihāmmatī
grant them what I grant my next of kin,
21
وَأَرْعَى لَهُمْ مَا أَرْعَى لِخَاصَّتِي.
wa-arʿā lahum mā arʿā li-khāṣṣatī
and observe for them what I observe for my special friends!
22
أَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمِّد وَآلِهِ ،
allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin wa ālihī
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
23
وَارْزُقْنِي مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُمْ،
warzuqni mithla dhalika minhum
provide me the like of that from them,
24
وَاجْعَلْ لِي أَوْفَى الْحُظُوظِ فِيمَا عِنْدَهُمْ ،
wa ajʿal li awfā al-ḥuẓuẓi fīmā ʿindahum
appoint for me the fullest share of what is with them,
25
وَزِدْهُمْ بَصِيْرَةً فِي حَقِّي، وَمَعْرِفَةً بِفَضْلِي،
wa zidhum basīratan fī ḥaqqī, wa maʿrifatan bifadlī
increase them in insight toward my right and knowledge of my excellence
26
حَتَّى يَسْعَدُوا بِي وَأَسْعَدَ بِهِمْ
ḥattá yasʿadū bī wa-asʿada bihim
so that they will be fortunate through me and I fortunate through them!
27
آمِينَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ.
ʾāmīn rabbi al-ʿālamīn
Amen, Lord of the worlds!
