الصَّلَاةُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ

Blessings upon God's Messenger

1
وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي مَنَّ عَلَيْنَا
wa al-ḥamdulillāhi alladhī manna ʿalaynā
Praise belongs to God who was kind to us
2
بِمُحَمَّد نَبِيِّهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
bi-muḥammad nabīhī ṣallá allāh ʿalayhi wa-ālihī
through Muhammad, His Prophet (God bless him and his Household)
3
دُونَ الاُمَمِ الْمَاضِيَةِ وَالْقُـرُونِ السَّالِفَةِ
dūna al-umam al-māḍiyah wal-qurūn al-sāliyah
to the exclusion of past communities and bygone generations,
4
بِقُدْرَتِهِ الَّتِي لاَ تَعْجِزُ عَنْ شَيْء وَ إنْ عَظُمَ
bi qudratihi allati la taʿjuzu ʿan shay'in wa in ʿadhum
displaying thereby His power, which nothing can render incapable though it be great,
5
وَ لا يَفُوتُهَا شَيءٌ وَإنْ لَطُفَ،
wa lā yafūtuha shay'un wa-in lathufa
and nothing can escape though it be subtle.
6
فَخَتَمَ بِنَاعَلَى جَمِيع مَنْ ذَرَأَ
fa khatama binaʿalayhi jamiʿa man tharaka
He sealed through us all He created,
7
وَ جَعَلَنَا شُهَدَاءَ عَلَى مَنْ جَحَدَ
wa jaʿalna shuhadā'a ʿalā man jaḥada
appointed us witnesses over those who deny,
8
وَكَثَّرَنا بِمَنِّهِ عَلَى مَنْ قَلَّ
wa kaththarana bimannihi 'ala man qalla
and increased us by His kindness over those who are few.
9
اللّهمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد أَمِينِكَ عَلَى وَحْيِكَ
allāhumma faṣalli ʿalā muḥammad ʾaminika ʿalā waḥyika
O God, bless Muhammad, entrusted by Thee with Thy revelation,
10
وَنَجِيبِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ
wa najībika min khalkika
distinguished by Thee among Thy creatures,
11
وَ صَفِيِّكَ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ
wa ṣafīyka min ʿibādika
devoted to Thee among Thy servants,
12
إمَامِ الرَّحْمَةِ وَقَائِدِ الْخَيْرِ
'imāmir-raḥmati waqā'idil-khayr
the imam of mercy, the leader of good,
13
وَ مِفْتَاحِ الْبَرَكَةِ
wa miftāhi al-barakah
the key to blessing,
14
كَمَا نَصَبَ لاَِمْرِكَ نَفْسَهُ
kamā naṣaba li-amrika nafsahu
who wearied his soul for Thy affairs,
15
وَ عَرَّضَ فِيْكَ لِلْمَكْرُوهِ بَدَنَهُ
wa ʿarraf fīka lil-makroohi badanahu
exposed his body to detested things for Thy sake,
16
وَكَاشَفَ فِي الدُّعَآءِ إلَيْكَ حَامَّتَهُ
wa kashafa fi al-du'a'i ilayka hāmmatahu
showed open enmity toward his next of kin by summoning to Thee,
17
وَحَارَبَ فِي رِضَاكَ أسْرَتَهُ
waḥārab fī riḍāka asratahu
fought against his family for Thy good pleasure,
18
وَقَطَعَ فِىْ إحْياءِ دِينِكَ رَحِمَهُ
waqaṭaʿa fii iḥyaaʾi dīnika raḥimahu
cut the ties of the womb in giving life to Thy religion,
19
وَاقصَى الادْنَيْنَ عَلَى جُحُـودِهِمْ
wa aqṣā al-adnayni ʿalā juḥūdihim
sent far those close because of their denial,
20
وَقَرَّبَ الاقْصَيْنَ عَلَى اسْتِجَابَتِهِمْ لَكَ
wa qar-raba al-aqṣayn ʿalā istijābatihim laka
brought near those far because of their response to Thee,
21
وَ والَى فِيكَ الابْعَدِينَ
wa wallā fīka al-abʿadīn
showed friendship to the most distant for Thy sake,
22
وَعَادى فِيكَ الاقْرَبِينَ
wa ʿādā fīka al-aqrabīn
displayed enmity toward the nearest for Thy sake,
23
وَأدْأبَ نَفْسَهُ فِي تَبْلِيغِ رِسَالَتِكَ
wa-ada'ba nafsahu fi tablighi risalatika
made his soul persevere in delivering Thy message,
24
وَأَتْعَبَهَا بِالدُّعآءِ إلَى مِلَّتِكَ
wa atʿabahā bid-duʿāʾi ilā millatika
tired it in summoning to Thy creed,
25
وَشَغَلَهَا بِالنُّصْحِ لاَِهْلِ دَعْوَتِكَ
wa shaghala-ha bi-nnuṣḥi li-ahl-i daʿwatik
busied it in counselling those worthy of Thy summons,
26
وَهَاجَرَ إلَى بِلاَدِ الْغُرْبَةِ
wa hajara ila biladi al-ghurba
migrated to the land of exile
27
وَمحَلِّ النَّأيِ عَنْ مَوْطِنِ رَحْلِهِ
wa mahallu al-naʾyi ʿan mawṭini rahlihi
and the place of remoteness from the home of his saddlebags,
28
وَمَوْضِـعِ رِجْلِهِ وَمَسْقَطِ رَأسِهِ
wa mawḍiʿi rijlihi wa masqaṭi raʾsihi
the walkway of his feet, the ground of his birth,
29
وَمَأنَسِ نَفْسِهِ إرَادَةً مِنْهُ لاعْزَازِ دِيْنِكَ
wa ma 'anasi nafsihi iradatan minhu l'azazi deenik
and the intimate abode of his soul, desiring to exalt Thy religion
30
واسْتِنْصَاراً عَلَى أَهْلِ الْكُفْرِ بِكَ
wa-stinṣārāan ʿalā ahli-l-kufri bika
and seeking help against those who disbelieved in Thee,
31
حَتّى اسْتَتَبَّ لَهُ مَا حَاوَلَ فِي أَعْدَائِكَ
ḥattā istatabba lahū mā ḥāwala fī aʿdāʾika
until what he attempted against Thy enemies went well with him
32
وَاسْتَتَمَّ لَهُ مَا دَبَّرَ فِي أوْلِيآئِكَ
wa stamtam lahu ma dabbara fi awliya'ik
and what he arranged for Thy friends was accomplished.
33
فَنَهَدَ إلَيْهِمْ مُسْتَفْتِحاً بِعَوْنِكَ
fanahada ilayhim mustaf'tiḥan bi'awnika
He rose up against them seeking victory through Thine aid,
34
وَمُتَقَوِّياً عَلَى ضَعْفِهِ بِنَصْرِكَ
wa mutaqawwiyān ʿalā ḍaʿfih bi-naṣrik
becoming strong in spite of his weakness with Thy help.
35
فَغَزَاهُمْ فِي عُقْرِ دِيَارِهِمْ
faghazāhum fī ʿuqri diyārihim
He fought against them in the centre of their cities
36
وَهَجَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ فِي بُحْبُوحَةِ قَرَارِهِمْ
wa hajama ʿalayhim fi buhbuuhati qararihim
and attacked them in the midst of their dwellings,
37
حَتّى ظَهَر أَمْرُكَ
ḥattá ẓahara amruk
until Thy command prevailed,
38
وَعَلَتْ كَلِمَتُكَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ
waʿalat kalimatuka walaw karihal mushrikoon
and Thy word rose up, though the idolaters were averse.
39
اللَهُمَّ فَارْفَعْهُ بِمَا كَدَحَ فِيكَ
allāhumma fārfʿahū bimā kadaha fīka
O God, so raise him, because of his labours for Thy sake,
40
إلَى الدَّرَجَةِ الْعُلْيَا مِنْ جَنَّتِكَ
'ilā al-darajati al-ʿulyā min jannatika
to the highest degree of Thy Garden,
41
حَتَّى لاَ يُسَاوَى فِي مَنْزِلَة
ḥattā lā yusāwā fī manzilah
that none may equal him in station,
42
وَلا يُكَاْفَأَ فِي مَرْتَبَة
wa lā yukāfā’u fī martabah
none may match him in level,
43
وَلاَ يُوَازِيَهُ لَدَيْكَ مَلَكٌ مُقَرَّبٌ وَلا نبيٌّ مُرْسَلٌ
walā yuwāziyahū ladayka malakun muqarrabun walā nabiyyun mursalun
and no angel brought nigh or prophet sent out may parallel him in Thy sight.
44
وَعَرِّفْهُ فِي أهْلِهِ الطّاهِرِينَ
wa ʿarrifhu fī ahlihi aṭ-ṭāhirīn
And inform him concerning his Household the pure
45
وَاُمَّتِهِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ حُسْنِ الشَّفَاعَةِ
wa-ummahatihi al-mu'minīn min husni al-shafāʿah
and his community the faithful of an excellent intercession,
46
أجَلَّ مَا وَعَدْتَهُ يَا نَافِذَ الْعِدَةِ
'ajalla mā wa'adtahu yā nāfidh al-'idah
greater than what Thou hast promised him! O Keeper of promises!
47
وَافِىَ الْقَوْلِ يَا مُبَدِّلَ السّيِّئات بِأضْعَافِهَا مِنَ الْحَسَنَاتِ
waāfiyal-qawli yā mubaddila al-sayyiāti bi-ađʿāfihā min al-ħasanāt
O Faithful to Thy word! O He who changes evil deeds into manifold good deeds!
48
إنَّكَ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ الْجَوَادُ اَلْكَرِيمُ
ʾinnaka dhū al-faḍli al-ʿaẓīmi al-jawādu al-karīmu
Thou art of bounty abounding!
