فليس ينافي ما قدمناه لان قوله فلم اقرأ شيئا يحتمل أن يكون أراد ما زاد على الحمد لانا قد بينا ان الاقتصار على الحمد مجز في حال الضرورة وهذا الخبر ليس في ظاهره انه لم يقرأ شيئا من الحمد وغيرها بل هو مجمل والخبر الاول مفصل والاخذ بالمفصل أولى منه بالجمل مع انه قد روى احمد بن محمد بن أبي نصر راوي هذا الحديث عن أبي الحسن الرضا عليه السلام بلا واسطة ما ذكرناه
So this does not contradict what we previously stated, because his words, “I did not recite anything,” may be understood to mean that he did not recite anything beyond ‘al-Hamd’ (Surah al-Fatihah). For we have already clarified that in a case of necessity, limiting oneself to ‘al-Hamd’ (Surah al-Fatihah) is sufficient. Moreover, this report does not explicitly state that he did not recite anything from ‘al-Hamd’ (Surah al-Fatihah) or otherwise it is general (mujmal), whereas the earlier report is detailed (mufassal), and what is detailed takes precedence over what is general. Furthermore, Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Nasr, the narrator of this hadith, has also narrated directly from Abu al-Hasan al-Ridha عليه السلام, peace be upon him, what we have mentioned:
