وإذا صليت خلف من لا يقتدي به وجبت عليك القراءة سمعت قراءته أو لم تسمع روى ذلك
And if you pray behind someone who is not to be followed, then recitation becomes obligatory upon you whether you hear his recitation or not. This was narrated:
