وقال أبي - رحمه الله - في رسالته إلي: إذا رأيت هلال شهر رمضان فلا تشر إليه ولكن استقبل القبلة وارفع يديك إلى الله عز وجل وخاطب الهلال وتقول: " ربي وربك الله رب العالمين، اللهم أهله علينا بالأمن والايمان، والسلامة والاسلام والمسارعة إلى ما تحب وترضى، اللهم بارك لنا في شهرنا هذا، وارزقنا عونه وخيره واصرف عنا ضره وشره وبلاءه وفتنته ".
My father—may Allah سبحانه وتعالى have mercy on him—mentioned in his letter to me: "When you see the crescent of the Month of Ramadan, do not point toward it. Instead, face the Qiblah, raise your hands to Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Almighty, address the crescent, and say: 'My Lord عز وجل and your Lord عز وجل is Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the Lord عز وجل of all worlds. O Allah سبحانه وتعالى, let it appear over us with security, faith, peace, submission, and eagerness to pursue what You love and are pleased with. O Allah سبحانه وتعالى, bless us in this month, grant us its assistance and goodness, and keep its harm, evil, trials, and tribulations away from us.'"
