مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى وَ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ جَمِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ ذَكَرَ دُهْنَ الْبَنَفْسَجِ فَزَكَّاهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَ إِنَّ الْخِيرِيَّ لَطِيفٌ .

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa and Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar all ibn Faddal from Tha’labah ibn Maymun from those whom he has mentioned who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), mentioned viola oil and praised it; then he (the Imam) said that the oil of gillyflower is also very fine oil.”’ 

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْجَهْمِ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) يَدَّهِنُ بِالْخِيرِيِّ فَقَالَ لِيَ ادَّهِنْ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ أَيْنَ أَنْتَ عَنِ الْبَنَفْسَجِ وَ قَدْ رُوِيَ فِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ أَكْرَهُ رِيحَهُ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ فَإِنِّي كُنْتُ أَكْرَهُ رِيحَهُ وَ أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أَقُولَ ذَلِكَ لِمَا بَلَغَنِي فِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ لَا بَأْسَ .

2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from his father and ibn Faddal from al-Hassan ibn al-Jahm who has said the following: “I once saw abu al-Hassan (a.s.), apply gillyflower oil and said to me to apply it.’ I then said, ‘Why do you not apply viola oil when there is narration about it from abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) :?’ He, abu al-Hassan (a.s.), said, ‘I do not like its smell.’ He (the narrator) has said that I said, ‘I also do not like its smell, but I do not like to say it because of the narration from abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about it.’ He, abu al-Hassan (a.s.), said, ‘It is not harmful.’”
