مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ جَمِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ صَبِيحٍ قَالَ سَأَلَنِي شِهَابُ بْنُ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ أَنْ أَسْتَأْذِنَ لَهُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) فَأَعْلَمْتُ ذَلِكَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) فَقَالَ قُلْ لَهُ يَأْتِينَا إِذَا شَاءَ فَأَدْخَلْتُهُ عَلَيْهِ لَيْلًا وَ شِهَابٌ مُقَنَّعُ الرَّأْسِ فَطُرِحَتْ لَهُ وِسَادَةٌ فَجَلَسَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) أَلْقِ قِنَاعَكَ يَا شِهَابُ فَإِنَّ الْقِنَاعَ رِيبَةٌ بِاللَّيْلِ مَذَلَّةٌ بِالنَّهَارِ .


1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad and A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad all from ibn Mahbub from al-‘ Ab has ibn al-Walid ibn Sabiyh who has said the following: “Once Shihab ibn ‘ Abd Rabbihi asked me to ask permission for him to visit abu ‘ Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, and I informed him (the Imam) about it. He (the Imam) said, ’He can visit if he likes.’ I took him to the house of abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam. It was during the night and Shihab had a mask on him. I found a furnishing for him to sit on and he sat down. Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al- Salam, said to him, ‘O Shihab, remove your mask; it causes doubt during the night and disgrace in the day.’”

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( صلوات الله عليه ) إِذَا ظَهَرَتِ الْقَلَانِسُ الْمُتَرِّكَةُ ظَهَرَ الزِّنَا .


2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘When al-Matrakah (a certain kind of cape) becomes public, so also will become fornication.’”

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الدِّهْقَانِ عَنْ دُرُسْتَ بْنِ أَبِي مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ طَيُّ الثِّيَابِ رَاحَتُهَا وَ هُوَ أَبْقَى لَهَا .


3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from [his father] from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ‘Ubayd Allah ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Dihqan from Durust ibn abu Mansur from Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd al-Hamid who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Folding clothes is giving them rest and durability.’”

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَمَّرِ بْنِ خَلَّادٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( صلوات الله عليه ) قَالَ خَرَجْتُ وَ أَنَا أُرِيدُ دَاوُدَ بْنَ عِيسَى بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَ كَانَ يَنْزِلُ بِئْرَ مَيْمُونٍ وَ عَلَيَّ ثَوْبَانِ غَلِيظَانِ فَرَأَيْتُ امْرَأَةً عَجُوزاً وَ مَعَهَا جَارِيَتَانِ فَقُلْتُ يَا عَجُوزُ أَ تُبَاعُ هَاتَانِ الْجَارِيَتَانِ فَقَالَتْ نَعَمْ وَ لَكِنْ لَا يَشْتَرِيهِمَا مِثْلُكَ قُلْتُ وَ لِمَ قَالَتْ لِأَنَّ إِحْدَاهُمَا مُغَنِّيَةٌ وَ الْأُخْرَى زَامِرَةٌفَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى دَاوُدَ بْنِ عِيسَى فَرَفَعَنِي وَ أَجْلَسَنِي فِي مَجْلِسِي فَلَمَّا خَرَجْتُ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ تَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هَذَا هَذَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُوسَى الَّذِي يَزْعُمُ أَهْلُ الْعِرَاقِ أَنَّهُ مَفْرُوضُ الطَّاعَةِ .


4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Mu’ammar ibn Khallad who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Once I left home to visit Dawud ibn ‘Isa ibn Ali who camped at Maymun well. I had two thick pieces of clothes on me and I saw an old woman and two girls with her. I asked her if she sells them. She said, ‘Yes, but a man like you will not buy them.’ I asked, ‘Why is it so?’ She replied, ‘One is a singer and the other is a flute player.’ I then met Dawud ibn ‘Isa who treated me with high esteem and gave me my seat. When I left, he asked his companions, ‘Do you know him? This is Ali ibn Musa. People of Iraq believe obedience to him is obligatory.’”

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) أَنَّهُ كَرِهَ لُبْسَ الْبُرْطُلَةِ .


5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn al-Hakam who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, disliked wearing al-Burtalah (a deep cape).”

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْقَاسَانِيِّ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ الْمِنْقَرِيِّ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى قَالَ نَظَرَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) إِلَى فِرَاشٍ فِي دَارِ رَجُلٍ فَقَالَ فِرَاشٌ لِلرَّجُلِ وَ فِرَاشٌ لِأَهْلِهِ وَ فِرَاشٌ لِضَيْفِهِ وَ فِرَاشٌ لِلشَّيْطَانِ .


6. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ali ibn Muhammad al-Qasaniy from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad from Sulayman ibn Dawud al-Minqariy from Hammad ibn ‘Isa who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, once looked at the furnishings in the house of a man, and said, ‘A spreading for the man, one for his wife, one for his guests and one for Satan.’”

أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الطَّيَالِسِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ مَنْ لَبِسَ السَّرَاوِيلَ مِنْ قُعُودٍ وُقِيَ وَجَعَ الْخَاصِرَةِ .


7. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from certain persons of his people from Muhammad ibn Khalid al-Tayalisy from Ali ibn abu Hamzah from abu Basir who have said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘If one wears a loincloth in a sitting position, he remains safe from lower back pain.’”

الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَقْطِينٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ خَلَفِ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ الْقُمِّيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ سَعَةُ الْجُرُبَّانِ وَ نَبَاتُ الشَّعْرِ فِي الْأَنْفِ أَمَانٌ مِنَ الْجُذَامِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَ مَا سَمِعْتَ قَوْلَ الشَّاعِرِ وَ لَا تَرَى قَمِيصِي إِلَّا وَاسِعَ الْجَيْبِ وَ الْيَدِ


8. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from Mansur ibn al-‘Abbas from al-Hassan ibn Ali ibn Yaqtin from ‘Amr ibn Ibrahim from Khalaf ibn Hammad from Ali al-Qummiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Growing hairs in the nose and spacious shirt afford immunity from leprosy. Have you not heard a poet’s saying, “You will not see my shirt other than being of wide sides and sleeves?”’

الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ الْعَلَوِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) مِنْ مُرُوءَةِ الرَّجُلِ أَنْ يَكُونَ دَوَابُّهُ سِمَاناًقَالَ وَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ ثَلَاثَةٌ مِنَ الْمُرُوءَةِ فَرَاهَةُ الدَّابَّةِ وَ حُسْنُ وَجْهِ الْمَمْلُوكِ وَ الْفَرْشُ السَّرِيُّ .


9. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn af-Husayn al-‘ Alawiy who has said the foiiowing: “Abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘One sign of the manhood of a man is plumpness of his stumpers.’ He (the narrator) has said that he heard him (the Imam) saying, ‘Three things are of the signs of manhood of a man. One is liveliness of his stumper, good looking slaves and distinguished house furnishings.’”

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَمُّونٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ مِسْمَعٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) لَا يَمْسَحْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِثَوْبِ مَنْ لَمْ يَكْسَهُ .


10. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan ibn Shammun from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al- Rahman from Misma‘ who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘You must not touch the clothes of one who has not yet worn them.’”

سَهْلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَكْرٍ عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا الْمُؤْمِنِ عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ اطْوُوا ثِيَابَكُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ فَإِنَّهَا إِذَا كَانَتْ مَنْشُورَةً لَبِسَهَا الشَّيْطَانُ بِاللَّيْلِ .


11. Sahl ibn Ziyad has narrated from Muhammad ibn Bakr from Zakariya al-Mu’min’ from those who narrated to him who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Fold your clothes for the night because Satan wears during the night the spread out clothes.’”

سَهْلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ جَبَلَةَ الْكِنَانِيِّ قَالَ اسْتَقْبَلَنِي أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) وَ قَدْ عَلَّقْتُ سَمَكَةً فِي يَدِي فَقَالَ اقْذِفْهَا إِنَّنِي لَأَكْرَهُ لِلرَّجُلِ السَّرِيِّ أَنْ يَحْمِلَ الشَّيْ‏ءَ الدَّنِيَّ بِنَفْسِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ أَعْدَاؤُكُمْ كَثِيرَةٌ عَادَاكُمُ الْخَلْقُ يَا مَعْشَرَ الشِّيعَةِ إِنَّكُمْ قَدْ عَادَاكُمُ الْخَلْقُ فَتَزَيَّنُوا لَهُمْ بِمَا قَدَرْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ .


12. Sahl ibn Ziyad has narrated from Yahya ibn al-Mubarak from ‘Abd Allah ibn Jabalah al-Kinaniy who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, welcomed me and I was hanging a fish in my hand. He (the Imam) said, ‘Throw it away; I dislike that a noble and high ranking man himself carry something unimportant.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You are a people who have a large number of enemies. People are your enemies, O Shi ‘ah, because you have become their enemies, therefore, you must beautify yourselves before them to whatever degree you can.’”
