Book 3, Chapter 187

One Who Allows Sexual Intercourse in His Anus
10 Aḥadīth

1- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَمْكَنَ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ طَائِعاً يُلْعَبُ بِهِ أَلْقَى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ شَهْوَةَ النِّسَاءِ.


1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Yahya from Talhah bin Zayd from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s) who said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘One who allows sexual intercourse in his anus voluntarily and playfully, Allah throws lust of woman on him.‘"

2- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ الدِّهْقَانِ عَنْ دُرُسْتَ بْنِ أَبِي مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ أَخِي أَبِي الْعُرَامِ قَالَ ذَكَرْتُ لأبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) الْمَنْكُوحَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ فَقَالَ لَيْسَ يُبْلِي اللهُ بِهَذَا الْبَلاءِ أَحَداً وَلَهُ فِيهِ حَاجَةٌ إِنَّ فِي أَدْبَارِهِمْ أَرْحَاماً مَنْكُوسَةً وَحَيَاءُ أَدْبَارِهِمْ كَحَيَاءِ الْمَرْأَةِ قَدْ شَرِكَ فِيهِمُ ابْنٌ لإبْلِيسَ يُقَالُ لَهُ زَوَالٌ فَمَنْ شَرِكَ فِيهِ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ كَانَ مَنْكُوحاً وَمَنْ شَرِكَ فِيهِ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ كَانَتْ مِنَ الْمَوَارِدِ وَالْعَامِلُ عَلَى هَذَا مِنَ الرِّجَالِ إِذَا بَلَغَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً لَمْ يَتْرُكْهُ وَهُمْ بَقِيَّةُ سَدُومَ أَمَا إِنِّي لَسْتُ أَعْنِي بِهِمْ بَقِيَّتَهُمْ أَنَّهُ وَلَدُهُمْ وَلَكِنَّهُمْ مِنْ طِينَتِهِمْ قَالَ قُلْتُ سَدُومُ الَّتِي قُلِبَتْ قَالَ هِيَ أَرْبَعُ مَدَائِنَ سَدُومُ وَصَرِيمُ وَلَدْمَاءُ وَعُمَيْرَاءُ قَالَ فَأَتَاهُنَّ جَبْرَئِيلُ (a.s) وَهُنَّ مَقْلُوعَاتٌ إِلَى تُخُومِ الأرْضِ السَّابِعَةِ فَوَضَعَ جَنَاحَهُ تَحْتَ السُّفْلَى مِنْهُنَّ وَرَفَعَهُنَّ جَمِيعاً حَتَّى سَمِعَ أَهْلُ سَمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا نُبَاحَ كِلابِهِمْ ثُمَّ قَلَبَهَا.


2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ali ibn Ma‘bad from ‘ Abd Allah ibn al-Dihqan from Durust ibn abu Mansur from ‘Atiyyah brother of abu al-‘Aram who has said the following: “Once I mentioned before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), one who allows sexual intercourse in his anus. He (the Imam) said, ‘If Allah finds someone of any use at all He does not allow him to become involved in allowing sexual intercourse in his anus. In behind such people there is something like a womb of women upside down. Their timidity in gayness is like women. A son of Satan called Zawal has shared with them. With whomever of men this Satan shares, he becomes a homosexual man and whomever of women this Satan shares she becomes of those to whom people come (for prostitution). A homosexual man who becomes forty years old and still does not stay away from his habit, he then is of the remaining individuals of Sadum. I do not mean thereby biological remaining; they however are of the same culture and clay.’ He (the narrator) has said, that I then asked ‘Is it the Sadum which was turned upside down?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘There were four cities: Sadum, Sarim, Ladma’ and ‘Amira.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘ Jibril came when they were cut out from the core of the seventh earth. He placed his wing underneath the lowest of them and raised all of them until the inhabitants of the heaven above the world could hear the barking of their dogs and then he turned them upside down.’”

3- مُحَمَّدٌ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْعَزْرَمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) قَالَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (a.s) إِنَّ للهِ عِبَاداً لَهُمْ فِي أَصْلابِهِمْ أَرْحَامٌ كَأَرْحَامِ النِّسَاءِ قَالَ فَسُئِلَ فَمَا لَهُمْ لا يَحْمِلُونَ فَقَالَ إِنَّهَا مَنْكُوسَةٌ وَلَهُمْ فِي أَدْبَارِهِمْ غُدَّةٌ كَغُدَّةِ الْجَمَلِ أَوِ الْبَعِيرِ فَإِذَا هَاجَتْ هَاجُوا وَإِذَا سَكَنَتْ سَكَنُوا.


3. Muhammad has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from ‘Abd al-Rahman al-‘Arzamiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘Of Allah’s creatures there are those who have wombs in their backs like the wombs of women.’ He (the Imam) said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin was asked, ‘Why do not they then become pregnant?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Because it is upside down. In their behind there is a gland like that of camel and when it is excited they become excited and when it is calm they are calm.’”

4- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي خَدِيجَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) قَالَ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمُتَشَبِّهِينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ بِالنِّسَاءِ وَالْمُتَشَبِّهَاتِ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ بِالرِّجَالِ قَالَ وَهُمُ الْمُخَنَّثُونَ وَاللاتِي يَنْكِحْنَ بَعْضُهُنَّ بَعْضاً.


4. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Khalid from Muhammad ibn Ali from Ali ibn ‘Abd Allah and ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad from abu Khadijah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has condemned transvestites (those of men who pretend to be like women and women who pretend to be like men).’ He (the Imam) said, ‘They are hermaphrodites who engage in sexual intercourse with each other.’”

5- أَحْمَدُ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الأشْعَرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى أَبِي فَقَالَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللهِ إِنِّي ابْتُلِيتُ بِبَلاءٍ فَادْعُ اللهَ لِي فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّهُ يُؤْتَى فِي دُبُرِهِ فَقَالَ مَا أَبْلَى اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهَذَا الْبَلاءِ أَحَداً لَهُ فِيهِ حَاجَةٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَبِي قَالَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَعِزَّتِي وَجَلالِي لا يَقْعُدُ عَلَى إِسْتَبْرَقِهَا وَحَرِيرِهَا مَنْ يُؤْتَى فِي دُبُرِهِ.


5. Ahmad has narrated from Ja’far ibn Muhammad al-Ash’ariy from ibn al-Qaddah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), has said, ‘Once a man came to my father and said, ‘O child of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, I am in an unfortunate condition; please pray for me to Allah.’ He was told that he allows sexual intercourse in his anus.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Whoever Allah finds to be of any benefit at all He does not permit him to allow sexual intercourse in his anus.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has said, “I swear by my glory and majesty that whoever allows sexual intercourse in his anus will not sit on the Istabraq and silk of paradise.’”

6- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَخِيهِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عُمَرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) وَعِنْدَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ لَهُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنِّي أُحِبُّ الصِّبْيَانَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) فَتَصْنَعُ مَا ذَا قَالَ أَحْمِلُهُمْ عَلَى ظَهْرِي فَوَضَعَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) يَدَهُ عَلَى جَبْهَتِهِ وَوَلَّى وَجْهَهُ عَنْهُ فَبَكَى الرَّجُلُ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) كَأَنَّهُ رَحِمَهُ فَقَالَ إِذَا أَتَيْتَ بَلَدَكَ فَاشْتَرِ جَزُوراً سَمِيناً وَاعْقِلْهُ عِقَالا شَدِيداً وَخُذِ السَّيْفَ فَاضْرِبِ السَّنَامَ ضَرْبَةً تَقْشِرُ عَنْهُ الْجِلْدَةَ وَاجْلِسْ عَلَيْهِ بِحَرَارَتِهِ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ فَأَتَيْتُ بَلَدِي فَاشْتَرَيْتُ جَزُوراً فَعَقَلْتُهُ عِقَالا شَدِيداً وَأَخَذْتُ السَّيْفَ فَضَرَبْتُ بِهِ السَّنَامَ ضَرْبَةً وَقَشَرْتُ عَنْهُ الْجِلْدَ وَجَلَسْتُ عَلَيْهِ بِحَرَارَتِهِ فَسَقَطَ مِنِّي عَلَى ظَهْرِ الْبَعِيرِ شِبْهُ الْوَزَغِ أَصْغَرُ مِنَ الْوَزَغِ وَسَكَنَ مَا بِي.


6. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id and Muhammad ibn Yahya from Musa ibn al-Hassan from ‘Umar ibn Ali ibn ‘Amr ibn Yazid from Muhammad ibn ‘Umar from his brother al-Husayn from his father ‘Umar ibn Yazid who has said the following: “Once, when, I was with abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), a man also was there. He said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, I love children.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘Why is it?’ He said, ‘I carry them on my back.’ Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), placed his hand on his forehead and turned his face away from him. The man cried and abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), looked to him as if he sympathized and said, ‘When you go to your town buy a healthy camel and tie it down firmly then take a sword and slash its hump to take away its skin and sit on it as it is naturally hot.’ ‘Umar has said that the man said, ‘When I returned to my town I bought a healthy camel, tied it down firmly, took the sword and took away its skin and sat on it as it was naturally warm and on the back of the camel from me fell something like a small frog (lizard) and my problem calmed down.’”

7- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنِ الْهَيْثَمِ النَّهْدِيِّ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ شَكَا رَجُلٌ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) الأبْنَةَ فَمَسَحَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ فَسَقَطَتْ مِنْهُ دُودَةٌ حَمْرَاءُ فَبَرَأَ.


7. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Musa ibn al-Hassan from al-Haytham al-Nahdiy in a marfu’ manner who has said the following: “A man once complained before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), against an anal problem and abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), rubbed his back. A red worm fell off of him and he was cured.’”

8- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (a.s) قَالَ أَقْسَمَ اللهُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَنْ لا يَقْعُدَ عَلَى نَمَارِقِ الْجَنَّةِ مَنْ يُؤْتَى فِي دُبُرِهِ فَقُلْتُ لأبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) فُلانٌ عَاقِلٌ لَبِيبٌ يَدْعُو النَّاسَ إِلَى نَفْسِهِ قَدِ ابْتَلاهُ اللهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ فَيَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْجَامِعِ قُلْتُ لا قَالَ فَيَفْعَلُهُ عَلَى بَابِ دَارِهِ قُلْتُ لإ؛ قَالَ فَأَيْنَ يَفْعَلُهُ قُلْتُ إِذَا خَلا قَالَ فَإِنَّ اللهَ لَمْ يَبْتَلِهِ هَذَا مُتَلَذِّذٌ لا يَقْعُدُ عَلَى نَمَارِقِ الْجَنَّةِ.


8. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn Sa‘id from Zakariya ibn Muhammad from his father from ‘Amr who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s), has said, ‘I swear upon myself that one who allows sexual intercourse in his anus will not be allowed to sit on the fine furnishings of paradise.’ I then said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), that so and so is a man of reason and deep understanding, calls people to himself and Allah has made him to suffer from this sickness. He (the Imam) asked, ‘Does he do it in the central Masjid?’ I replied, ‘No, he does not do it in the central Masjid.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘Does he do it at the door of his house?’ I replied, ‘No, he does not do it there.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘Where does he do it.’ I replied, ‘When he is in private.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Allah then has not caused him to suffer from the sickness, he enjoys it and he will not be allowed to sit on the fine furnishings of paradise.’”

9- أَحْمَدُ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَسْبَاطٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) قَالَ مَا كَانَ فِي شِيعَتِنَا فَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِمْ ثَلاثَةُ أَشْيَاءَ مَنْ يَسْأَلُ فِي كَفِّهِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِمْ أَزْرَقُ أَخْضَرُ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِمْ مَنْ يُؤْتَى فِي دُبُرِهِ.


9. Ahmad has narrated from Ali ibn Asbat from certain persons of our people who have said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), has said, ‘Things may exist in our Shi‘ah, but three things will not be in them, one who stretches his hand for begging, there is no blue or green among them and one who allows sexual intercourse in his anus.’”

10- الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَبَلَةَ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (a.s) هَؤُلاءِ الْمُخَنَّثُونَ مُبْتَلَوْنَ بِهَذَا الْبَلاءِ فَيَكُونُ الْمُؤْمِنُ مُبْتَلًى وَالنَّاسُ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُ لا يُبْتَلَى بِهِ أَحَدٌ للهِ فِيهِ حَاجَةٌ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَدْ يَكُونُ مُبْتَلًى بِهِ فَلا تُكَلِّمُوهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ يَجِدُونَ لِكَلامِكُمْ رَاحَةً قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَيْسُوا يَصْبِرُونَ قَالَ هُمْ يَصْبِرُونَ وَلَكِنْ يَطْلُبُونَ بِذَلِكَ اللَّذَّةَ.


10. Al-Husayn from Muhammad has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Imran from ‘Abd Allah ibn Jabalah from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s), about the hermaphrodites who suffer because of this misfortune (sexual intercourse in their anus). Will a believing person suffer from this sickness and people think Allah does not allow one whom He finds of any benefit at all to suffer from this sickness. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, one may suffer from such sickness and you must not speak to such person because when you speak they find comfort.’ I then asked, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, can they not bear patience?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘They are able to exercise patience but they want to enjoy. If Allah, most High causes one to suffer from such sickness he would be compelled and cannot bear patience or to control himself even in the presence of people. When he feels ashamed before people and does not do it in the presence of people but does it in private then it is not Allah who has caused him to suffer; in fact he enjoys it.’”
