True friendship in adversity, absence, and death

Ḥadīth 164

١٣٤. وَقَالَ (عليه ‏السلام): لَا يَكُونُ الصَّدِيقُ صَدِيقاً حَتَّى يَحْفَظَ أَخَاهُ فِى ثَلَاثٍ فِى نَكْبَتِهِ وَغَيْبَتِهِ وَوَفَاتِهِ.

134. Amīr al-mu’minīn, peace be upon him, said: A friend is not a friend unless he affords protection to his comrade on three occasions: in his adversity, in his absence and at his death.
