وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ عِبَادَ اللهِ، وَبَادِرُوا آجَالَكُمْ بِأَعْمَالِكُمْ وَابْتَاعُوامَا يَبْقَى لَكُمْ بِمَا يَزُولُ عَنْكُمْ، وَتَرَحَّلُوافَقَدْ جُدَّ بِكُمْ وَاسْتَعِدُّوا لِلْمَوْتِ فَقَدْ أَظَلَّكُمْ وَكُونُوا قَوْماً صِيحَ بِهمْ فَانْتَبَهُوا، وَعَلِمُوا أَنَّ الدُّنْيَا لَيْسَتْ لَهُمْ بِدَارٍ فَاسْتَبْدَلُوا

O creatures of Allāh! Fear Allāh and anticipate your death by good actions. Purchase everlasting joy by paying transitory things — pleasures of this world. Get ready for the journey, for you are being driven, and prepare yourself for death, since it is hovering over you. Be a people who wake up when called, and who know that this world is not their abode, and so have it changed (with the next).

فَإِنَّ اللهَ لَمْ يَخْلُقْكُمْ عَبَثاً، وَلَمْ يَتْرُكْكُمْ سُدىً وَمَا بَيْنَ أَحَدِكُمْ وَبَيْنَ الْجَنَّةِ أَوِ النَّارِ إِلاَّ الْمَوْتُ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ بِهِ. وَإِنَّ غَايَةً تَنْقُصُهَا اللَّحْظَةُ، وَتَهْدِمُهَا السَّاعَةُ، لَجَدِيرَةٌ بِقِصَرِالْمُدَّةِ، وَإِنَّ غَائِباً يَحْدُوهُ الْجَدِيدَانِ اللَّيْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ، لَحَرِيٌّ بِسُرْعَةِ الاْوْبَةِ وَإِنَّ قَادِماً يَقْدُمُ بِالفَوْزِ أَوالشِّقْوَةِ لَمُسْتَحِقٌّ لاِفْضَلِ الْعُدَّةِ، فَتَزَوَّدُوا فِي الدُّنيَا مِنَ الدُّنْيَا مَا تَحْرُزُونَ بِهِ نُفُوسَكُمْ غَداً.

Certainly, Allāh has not created you aimlessly nor left you as useless. There is nothing between anyone of you and Paradise or Hell except death that must befall him. The life that is being shortened every moment and being dismantled every hour must be regarded very short. The hidden thing namely death which is being driven (to you) by two over new phenomena, the day and the night, is certainly quick of approach. The traveller which is approaching with success or failure (namely death) deserves the best of provision. So acquire such provision from this world while you are here with which you may shield yourself tomorrow (on the Day of Judgement).

فَاتَّقَىْ عَبْدٌ رَبِّهُ، نَصَحَ نَفْسَهُ، قَدَّمَ تَوْبَتَهُ، غَلَبَ شَهْوَتَهُ، فَإِنَّ أَجَلَهُ مَسْتُورٌ عَنْهُ، وَأَمَلَهُ خَادِعٌ لَهُ، والشَّيْطَانُ مُوَكَّلٌ بِه، يُزَيِّنُ لَهُ الْمَعْصِيَةَ لِيَرْكَبَهَا، وَيُمَنِّيهِ التَّوْبَةَ لِيُسَوِّفَهَا حتّى تَهْجُم مَنِيَّتُهُ عَلَيْهِ أَغْفَلَ مَا يَكُونُ عَنْهَا. فَيَالَهَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى كُلِّ ذِي غَفْلَةٍ أَنْ يَكُونَ عُمُرُهُ عَلَيْهِ حُجَّةً، وَأَنْ تُؤَدِّيَهُ أَيَّامُهُ إِلَى الشِّقْوَةِ!

So everyone should fear Allāh, should admonish himself, should send forward his repentance and should overpower his desire, because his death is hidden from him, his desires deceive him and Satan is posted on him and he beautifies for him sin so that he may commit it and prompts him to delay repentance till his desires make him the most negligent. Piety is for the negligent person whose life itself would be a proof against him and his own days (passed in sin) would lead him to punishment.

نَسْأَلُ اللهَ سُبْحَانَهُ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنَا وَإِيَّاكُمْ مِمِّنْ لاَ تُبْطِرُهُ نَعْمَةٌ وَلاَ تُقَصِّرُ بِهِ عَنْ طَاعَةِ رَبِّهِ غَايَةٌ، وَلاَ تَحُلُّ بِهِ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ نَدَامَةٌ وَلاَ كَآبَةٌ.

We ask Allāh, the Glorified, that He may make us and you like one whom bounty does not mislead, whom nothing can stop from obedience of Allāh and whom shame and grief do not befall after death.

Entrait d’un discours où il exhorte à faire de bonnes actions

O serviteurs de Dieu, craignez Dieu! Faites devancer votre vie future par vos actions actuelles; achetez ce qui manque à votre paradis par votre privation des plaisirs terrestres; préparez vos provisions avant qu’on ne vous oblige au voyage. Apprêtez-vous à la mort dont l’ombre commence à s’étendre au-dessus de vos tètes. Soyez des gens auxquels on intime de prêter attention, des gens qui ont su que le monde n’est pas leur demeure et qui l’ont substitué par le Paradis.

Dieu, certes, ne vous a pas créés en vain et ne vous laissera pas dépourvus de guidance: entre chacun de vous et le Paradis ou le Feu il n’y a que la mort à attendre. A chaque fin correspond un terme amoindri par les moments successifs et démoli par la succession des heures; la durée de la vie ne mérite pas qu’on s’y attache. La mort guidée par la suite ininterrompue du jour et de la nuit ne tarde pas à arriver. Ce faisant, il mérite qu’on s’y prépare de la meilleure façon. Approvisionnez-vous donc des moyens qui vous feront gagner votre vie menée dans la crainte de Dieu.

Un bon serviteur conseille soi-même, devance son repentir, vainc ses passions. Cependant, il ne connaît pas le terme de sa vie, et son espérance qu’elle sera longue n’est qu’un leurre. Et puis il y a le démon qui le tente, lui enjolivant le péché afin de le commettre et lui faisant espérer un pardon toujours différé. Si la mort lui tombait dessus il néglegerait ses conséquences. Quel malheur encoure l’homme négligeable en faisant de ses jours un argument contre lui, qui le conduit à la misère.

Nous implorons Dieu de nous rendre, vous et moi, parmi ceux qui ne déprécient aucune grâce donnée par Dieu et qu’aucune raison ne les fait dévier de Son obéissance, afin qu’après la mort nous ne connaissions ni regret ni chagrin.
