Al-Amālī

1 - حدثنا الشيخ الفقيه أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن سلمة بن الخطاب البراوستاني، عن إبراهيم بن مقاتل، قال: حدثني حامد بن محمد، عن عمرو بن هارون، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه، عن علي بن أبي طالب (عليهم السلام)، قال: لقد هممت بتزويج فاطمة بنت محمد (صلوات الله عليهما) حينا، ولم أتجرأ أن أذكر ذلك للنبي (صلى الله عليه وآله)، وإن ذلك اختلج في صدري ليلا ونهارا حتى دخلت على رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) فقال: يا علي. قلت: لبيك، يا رسول الله. قال: هل لك في التزويج؟ قلت: رسول الله أعلم. وإذا هو يريد (1) أن يزوجني بعض نساء قريش، وإني لخائف على فوت فاطمة، فما شعرت بشئ إذ أتاني رسول رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) فقال لي: أجب النبي وأسرع، فما رأينا رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) أشد فرحا منه اليوم، قال: فأتيته مسرعا، فإذا هو في حجرة أم سلمة، فلما نظر إلى تهلل وجهه فرحا وتبسم حتى نظرت إلى بياض أسنانه يبرق، فقال: أبشر يا علي، فإن الله عزوجل قد كفاني ما قد كان همني من أمر تزويجك. فقلت: وكيف ذلك، يا رسول الله؟ قال: أتاني جبرئيل ومعه من سنبل الجنة وقرنفلها فناولنيهما، فأخذتهما وشممتهما، فقلت: ما سبب هذا السنبل والقرنفل؟ فقال: إن الله تبارك وتعالى أمر سكان الجنان من الملائكة ومن فيها أن يزينوا الجنان كلها بمغارسها وأشجارها وثمارها وقصورها، وأمر ريحها فهبت بأنواع العطر والطيب، وأمر حور عينها بالقراءة فيها بسورة طه وطواسين ويس وحمعسق. ثم نادى مناد من تحت العرش: ألا إن اليوم يوم وليمة علي بن أبي طالب، ألا إني أشهدكم أني قد زوجت فاطمة بنت محمد من علي بن أبي طالب رضا مني، بعضهما لبعض، ثم بعث الله تبارك وتعالى سحابة بيضاء، فقطرت عليهم من لؤلؤها وزبرجدها ويواقيتها، وقامت الملائكة فنثرت من سنبل الجنة وقرنفلها، هذا مما نثرت الملائكة، ثم أمر الله تبارك وتعالى ملكا من ملائكة الجنة يقال له راحيل، وليس في الملائكة أبلغ منه، فقال: اخطب يا راحيل. فخطب بخطبة لم يسمع بمثلها أهل السماء ولا أهل الارض، ثم نادى مناد: ألا يا ملائكتي وسكان جنتي، باركوا على علي ابن أبي طالب حبيب محمد، وفاطمة بنت محمد، فقد باركت عليهما، ألا إني زوجت أحب النساء إلي من أحب الرجال إلي بعد النبيين والمرسلين. فقال راحيل الملك: يا رب، وما بركتك فيهما بأكثر مما رأينا لهما في جنانك ودارك؟ فقال عزوجل: يا راحيل، إن من بركتي عليهما أن أجمعهما على محبتي، وأجعلهما حجة على خلقي، وعزتي وجلالي لاخلقن منهما خلقا، ولانشئن منهما ذرية أجعلهم خزاني في أرضي، ومعادن لعلمي ودعاة إلى ديني، بهم أحتج على خلقي بعد النبيين والمرسلين. فأبشر يا علي، فإن الله عزوجل أكرمك كرامة لم يكرم بمثلها أحدا، وقد زوجتك ابنتي فاطمة على ما زوجك الرحمن، وقد رضيت لها بما رضي الله لها، فدونك أهلك فإنك أحق بها مني، ولقد أخبرني جبرئيل أن الجنة مشتاقة إليكما، ولولا أن الله عزوجل قدر أن يخرج منكما ما يتخذه على الخلق حجة لاجاب (1) فيكما الجنة وأهلها، فنعم الاخ أنت، ونعم الختن (2) أنت، ونعم الصاحب أنت، وكفاك برضا الله رضا. قال علي (عليه السلام): فقلت: يا رسول الله، بلغ من قدري حتى إني ذكرت في الجنة، وزوجني الله في ملائكته! فقال (عليه السلام): إن الله عزوجل إذا أكرم وليه وأحبه، أكرمه بما لا عين رأت ولا أذن سمعت، فحباها الله لك يا علي. فقال علي (عليه السلام): (رب أوزعني أن أشكر نعمتك التى أنعمت على) (3)، فقال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): آمين (4).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us from Salama b. al-Khattab al-Birawistani from Ibrahim b. Muqatil. He said: Hamid b. Muhammad narrated to me from `Amr b. Harun from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefather from `Ali b. Abi Talib (as). He said: I wanted to marry Fatima bt. Muhammad (s), but I did not dare mention it to the Prophet (s). That distress remained in my chest night and day, till I visited the Messenger of Allah (s). So, he said: O `Ali! I said: I am at your service, O Messenger of Allah. He said: Will you be getting married? I said: The Messenger of Allah knows better [than I]. I thought he wanted to marry me to one of the women of Quraysh, and I was afraid that Fatima would slip away. I did not indicate anything; till the Messenger of Allah (s) sent for me, saying: Respond to the Prophet and hurry. We did not see the Messenger of Allah (s) more gleefully happy than we did that day. He said: So, I hurried to him, and he was in the house of Umm Salama. When he looked at me, his face brightened with happiness and he smiled, until I saw his shining, white teeth. So, he said: Be happy, `Ali, for Allah has sufficed me in my concern over your marriage. Then, I said: How is that, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Gabriel came to me with a bouquet and cloves from Paradise and gave them to me. So, I took them and smelled them; then I said: “What is the reason for this bouquet and the cloves?” So, he said: “Allah has commanded the angelic inhabitants of Paradise to adorn all of Paradise in its estates, its trees, its fruits, and its palaces; and He called for it to be perfumed, so it was bestowed with various perfumes. Its houris were commanded to recite Surat Taha, Surat al-Shu`ara’, Surat al-Qisas, Surat al-Naml, Surat Yasin, and Surat al-Shura. Then, a caller called from beneath the Throne: ‘Surely, today is the walima of `Ali b. Abi Talib. Surely, I testify to you that I have married Fatima bt. Muhammad to `Ali b. Abi Talib by My will – each of them is for the other.’ Then, Allah sent forth a white cloud, and it rained pearls, gems, and rubies onto them. The angels stood and sprinkled the flowers and cloves, and this is of what the angels sprinkled. Then, Allah ordered an angel from the angels named Rahil – and there is no angel more eloquent than him – to speak; saying: ‘Give a sermon, Rahil.’ Then, he gave a sermon that none from the people of heaven or Earth have heard the like of. Then, a caller called: ‘O My angels and inhabitants of My Paradise! Congratulate `Ali b. Abi Talib the beloved of Muhammad and Fatima bt. Muhammad, for they are blessed. Surely, I have married the most beloved of women to Me to the most beloved of men to Me after the prophets and messengers.’ Then, the angel Rahil said: ‘O Lord! How have you blessed them further than what we have already seen in Your Paradise and Your abode?’ So, He said: ‘O Rahil! Among My blessing of them is that I will gather them both upon My love and make them a Proof over My creation. By My glory and My majesty! I will create a creation from them, and create a progeny from them, and make them My treasuries in My Earth, goldmines of My knowledge, and callers to My religion. I will make them incumbent upon My creation after the prophets and messengers.’” So, be happy, `Ali, for Allah has surely blessed you with a blessing that He has not blessed anyone with. I marry you to my daughter Fatima upon what the Merciful has married you. I am pleased with what Allah is pleased with for her. So, take your wife, for you have more right to her than me. Gabriel informed me that Paradise longs for you two; and had it not been for Allah wanting to bring a Proof over the creation from you, He would have brought you to Paradise and its people. You are the most blessed of brothers, the most blessed of grooms, and the most blessed of companions. The contentment of Allah suffices for you. `Ali (as) said: So, I said: O Messenger of Allah! My destiny is such that I was mentioned in Paradise, and Allah married me before the angels! So, he (as) said: When Allah blesses His friend, He loves him, and He blesses him with what no eye has seen, and no ear has heard. He wanted her for you, `Ali. Then, `Ali (as) said: “O Lord! Help me thank You for the blessing that You have bestowed upon me.” (27:19) Then, the Messenger of Allah (s) said: Amen.

2 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا أحمد ابن محمد بن خالد، عن القاسم بن يحيى، عن جده الحسن بن راشد، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن آبائه، عن أمير المؤمنين (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال لي رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) على منبره: يا علي، إن الله عزوجل وهب لك حب المساكين والمستضعفين في الارض، فرضيت بهم إخوانا ورضوا بك إماما، فطوبى لمن أحبك وصدق عليك، وويل لمن أبغضك وكذب عليك. يا علي، أنت العلم لهذه (5) الامة، من أحبك فاز، ومن أبغضك هلك. يا علي، أنا مدينة العلم وأنت بابها، وهل تؤتى المدينة إلا من بابها! يا علي، أهل مودتك كل أواب حفيظ وكل ذي طمر (6) لو أقسم على الله لابر قسمه. يا علي، إخوانك كل طاهر زاك مجتهد، يحب فيك، ويبغض فيك، محتقر عند الخلق، عظيم المنزلة عند الله عزوجل. يا علي، محبوبك جيران الله في دار الفردوس، لا يأسفون على ما خلفوا من الدنيا. يا علي، أنا ولي لمن واليت، وأنا عدو لمن عاديت. يا علي، من أحبك فقد أحبني، ومن أبغضك فقد أبغضني. يا علي، إخوانك ذبل الشفاه، تعرف الرهبانية في وجوههم. يا علي، إخوانك يفرحون في ثلاثة مواطن: عند خروج أنفسهم وأنا شاهدهم وأنت، وعند المسألة في قبورهم، وعند العرض الاكبر، وعند الصراط إذا سئل الخلق عن إيمانها فلم يجيبوا (1). يا علي حربك حربي، وسلمك سلمي، وحربي حرب الله، ومن سالمك فقد سالمني، ومن سالمني فقد سالم الله عزوجل. يا علي، بشر إخوانك، فإن الله عزوجل قد رضي عنهم إذ رضيك لهم قائدا ورضو بك وليا. يا علي، أنت أمير المؤمنين، وقائد الغر المحجلين. يا علي، شيعتك المنتجبون، ولولا أنت وشيعتك ما قام لله عز وجل دين، ولولا من في الارض منكم لما أنزلت السماء قطرها. يا علي، لك كنز في الجنة، وأنت ذو قرنيها، وشيعتك تعرف بحزب الله عزوجل. يا علي، أنت وشيعتك القائمون بالقسط، وخيرة الله من خلقه. يا علي، أنا أول من ينفض التراب عن رأسه، وأنت معي، ثم سائر الخلق. يا علي، أنت وشيعتك على الحوض تسقون من أحببتم وتمنعون من كرهتم، وأنتم الآمنون يوم الفزع الاكبر في ظل العرش، يفزع الناس ولا تفزعون، ويحزن الناس ولا تحزنون، فيكم نزلت هذه الآية: (إن الذين سبقت لهم منا الحسنى أولئك عنها مبعدون) (1) وفيكم نزلت (لا يحزنهم الفزع الاكبر وتتلقاهم الملائكة هذا يومكم الذي كنتم توعدون) (2). يا علي، أنت وشيعتك تطلبون في الموقف، وأنتم في الجنان تتنعمون. يا علي، إن الملائكة والخزان يشتاقون إليكم، وإن حملة العرش والملائكة المقربين ليخصونكم بالدعاء، ويسألون الله لمحبيكم، ويفرحون بمن قدم عليهم منكم كما يفرح الاهل بالغائب القادم بعد طول الغيبة. يا علي، شيعتك الذين يخافون الله في السر، وينصحونه في العلانية. يا علي، شيعتك الذين يتنافسون في الدرجات لانهم يلقون الله عزوجل وما عليهم من ذنب. يا علي، أعمال شيعتك ستعرض علي في كل جمعة، فأفرح بصالح ما يبلغني من أعمالهم، وأستغفر لسيئاتهم. يا علي، ذكرك في التوراة وذكر شيعتك قبل أن يخلقوا بكل خير، و كذلك في الانجيل، فسل أهل الانجيل وأهل الكتاب عن إليا يخبروك، مع علمك بالتوراة والانجيل وما أعطاك الله عزوجل من علم الكتاب، وإن أهل الانجيل ليتعاظمون إليا وما يعرفونه، وما يعرفون شيعته، وإنما يعرفونهم بما يجدونهم في كتبهم. يا علي، إن أصحابك ذكرهم في السماء أكبر وأعظم من ذكر أهل الارض لهم بالخير، فليفرحوا بذلك، وليزدادوا اجتهادا. يا علي، إن أرواح شيعتك لتصعد إلى السماء في رقادهم ووفاتهم، فتنظر الملائكة إليها كما ينظر الناس إلى الهلال شوقا إليهم، ولما يرون من منزلتهم عند الله عزوجل. يا علي، قل لاصحابك العارفين بك، يتنزهون عن الاعمال التي يقارفها عدوهم، فما من يوم ولا من ليلة إلا ورحمة من الله تبارك وتعالى تغشاهم، فليجتنبوا الدنس. يا علي، اشتد غضب الله عزوجل على من قلاهم وبرئ منك ومنهم، واستبدل بك وبهم، ومال إلى عدوك، وتركك وشيعتك واختار الضلال، ونصب الحرب لك ولشيعتك، وأبغضنا أهل البيت وأبغض من والاك ونصرك واختارك وبذل مهجته وماله فينا. يا علي، اقرأهم مني السلام من لم أر منهم ولم يرني، وأعلمهم أنهم إخواني الذين أشتاق إليهم، فليلقوا علمي إلى من يبلغ القرون من بعدي، وليتمسكوا بحبل الله وليعتصموا به، وليجتهدوا في العمل، فإنا لا نخرجهم من هدى إلى ضلالة، وأخبرهم أن الله عزوجل عنهم راض، وأنه يباهي بهم ملائكته وينظر إليهم في كل جمعة برحمته، ويأمر الملائكة أن تستغفر لهم. يا علي، لا ترغب عن نصرة قوم يبلغهم أو يسمعون أني احبك فأحبوك لحبي إياك، ودانوا لله عزوجل بذلك، وأعطوك صفو المودة في قلوبهم، واختاروك على الآباء والاخوة والاولاد، وسلكوا طريقك، وقد حملوا على المكاره فينا فأبوا إلا نصرنا وبذل المهج فينا مع الاذى وسوء القول وما يقاسونه من مضاضة ذلك فكن بهم رحيما واقنع بهم، فإن الله عزوجل اختارهم بعلمه لنا من بين الخلق، وخلقهم من طينتنا، واستودعهم سرنا وألزم قلوبهم معرفة حقنا، وشرح صدورهم، وجعلهم مستمسكين بحبلنا، لا يؤثرون علينا من خالفنا مع ما يزول من الدنيا عنهم، أيدهم الله وسلك بهم طريق الهدى فاعتصموا به، فالناس في غمة الضلال متحيرون في الاهواء، عموا عن الحجة وما جاء من عند الله عزوجل، فهم يصبحون ويمسون في سخط الله، وشيعتك على منهاج الحق والاستقامه، لا يستأنسون إلى من خالفهم، وليست الدنيا منهم وليسوا منها، أولئك مصابيح الدجى، أولئك مصابيح الدجى، أولئك مصابيح الدجى (1).

My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid narrated to us from al-Qasim b. Yahya from his grandfather al-Hasan b. Rashid from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his forefathers from Amir al-Mu’minin (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said to me on his pulpit: O `Ali! Allah has gifted you with love of the needy and the weak, so be pleased with them as brethren, and they will be pleased with you as an Imam. Tuba is for he who loves you and believes in you, and woe be to he who hates you and belies you. O `Ali! You are the scholar of this Nation, so he who loves you is triumphant, and he who hates you is destroyed. O `Ali! I am the City of Knowledge and you are its Gate – can a city be entered by other than its gate?! O `Ali! The people of your love are the penitent of shabby clothing; if they were to swear upon Allah, they would fulfill their vow. O `Ali! Your brethren include every pure, clever striver who loves for your sake and hates for your sake. They are despised by the creation, but they have a great rank with Allah. O `Ali! Those who love you will be neighbours with Allah in the Abode of Heaven, unregretful of what they left behind in this world. O `Ali! I am the friend of whomever you align with, and I am the enemy of whomever you oppose. O `Ali! He who loves you has loved me, and he who hates you has hated me. O `Ali! Your brethren have withered lips [from the dryness of fasting] – their monasticism is known from their faces. O `Ali! Your brethren become happy in three places: (1) when their souls leave them whilst I and you witness over them, (2) when they are questioned in their graves, and (3) at the great reckoning, and at the Path, when the people are asked about their faith, and they do not answer. O `Ali! Your war is my war, and your peace is my peace; and my war is the war of Allah, and whoever is at peace with you is at peace with me, and whoever is at peace with me is at peace with Allah. O `Ali! Give glad tidings to your brethren, for Allah is pleased with them when you are pleased with them as their leader, and they are pleased with you as your friend. O `Ali! You are the Commander of the Faithful and the Leader of the Shining Believers. O `Ali! Your Shi`a are the chosen ones. Had it not been for you and your Shi`a, a religion would not be established for Allah. Had it not been because of your presence in the Earth, no drop of rain would fall from the sky. O `Ali! You have a treasure in Paradise, and you are its Dhul Qarnayn. Your Shi`a are known as the Party of Allah. O `Ali! You and your Shi`a are the establishers of justice (qa’imuna bil qist) and the chosen ones of Allah from His creation. O `Ali! I will be the first to wipe the dust off my head [from the grave], and you will be with me, then the rest of the creation. O `Ali! You and your Shi`a will be at the Pond, feeding those whom you love and preventing those whom you hate from it. You will be safe on the Day of Great Dismay in the shade of the Throne; the people will panic, but you will not panic, and the people will grieve, but you will not grieve. This verse was revealed regarding you, “Surely those for whom We have destined the finest reward will be kept far away from Hell” (21:101) “The Great Dismay will not disturb them, and the angels will greet them, [saying] ‘This is your Day, which you were promised.’” (21:103) O `Ali! You and your Shi`a will be sought during the Stand, and you will be blessed in Paradise. O `Ali! The angels and the treasurers long for you. Surely, the carriers of the Throne and the Angels of Proximity supplicate for you in particular and your lovers. They become happy with whoever of you proceeds to them [in heaven] just as a family become happy when a member who has been absent for a long absence proceeds to them. O `Ali! Your Shi`a are those who fear Allah in private and preach His advice in public. O `Ali! Your Shi`a are those who compete for the ranks [of Paradise], for they will meet Allah without any sins. O `Ali! The deeds of your Shi`a will be presented to me every Friday: I will become happy with the righteous deeds that I will be informed of, and I will seek repentance for their sins. O `Ali! Your mention is in the Torah, and the mention of your Shi`a was in all goodness before they were created; and it is the same in the Gospel, so ask the people of the Gospel and the People of the Book about Iliya and they will inform you of what you [already] know of the Torah and the Gospel and that which Allah gave you from the knowledge of the Book. Surely, the people of the Gospel magnify Iliya, yet they do not recognize him, nor do they recognize his Shi`a; but they will recognize them by what they find in their books. O `Ali! The mention of your companions in goodness is greater in heaven than it is on Earth, so let them be gladdened by that, so that they may increase in their striving. O `Ali! The spirits of your Shi`a will ascend to heaven at the time of their sleep and the time of their death. The angels await them desirously just as the people await the crescent moon, due to what they have seen of their status with Allah. O `Ali! Tell the companions of yours who have cognizance of you to abstain from the deeds that their enemy is involved in, for there is not a day nor a night in which the mercy of Allah does not encompass them; so, they should avoid [such] filth. O `Ali! The anger of Allah is intensified against those who detest them, dissociate from you and them, exchange you and them [for others], lean toward your enemy, abandon you and your Shi`a, choose misguidance; and declare war against you and your Shi`a, hate us – the Ahl al-Bayt – and hate those who align with you, support you, choose you, and dedicate their heart and wealth to us. O `Ali! Recite the salaam to those who I will neither see nor will they see me and teach them that they are my brothers whom I long for, so that they may give my knowledge to the generations after me, grasp firmly onto the rope of Allah, and strive in deeds, for we will not take them out of guidance and into misguidance. Inform them that Allah is pleased with them, and that He boasts about them to His angels, and that He looks to them with His mercy every Friday, and that He orders His angels to seek repentance on their behalf. O `Ali! Do not stop supporting a people who are informed or hear that I love you and then [in return] love you out of my love for you, and seek the proximity of Allah through that, and give the best of their love in their heart to you, and choose you over their fathers, their brothers, and their children, and travel your path. They bear the hatred of us and refuse that in order to support us. They bear the insulting of us with harm, evil words, and agony; so be merciful to them and be satisfied with them, for Allah has chosen them among the creation for our sake, and He created them from our clay, and He placed our secret in them, and He made their hearts recognize our right, and He expanded their chests, and He made them those who grasp firmly onto our rope. They do not prefer our opponents and the fleeting world over us. Allah has aided them and made them travel upon the path of guidance, and they grasped firmly onto that, while the people are clouded in misguidance and perplexed in [their] desires. They have been blinded from proof and that which came from Allah, so they awake and go to sleep in the anger of Allah. Your Shi`a are on the upright pathway of truth. They do not find harmony with those who oppose them. The world is not of them and they are not of it – these are the lanterns in the darkness, these are the lanterns in the darkness, these are the lanterns in the darkness.

3 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن يحيى العطار (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن القاسم بن يحيى، عن جده الحسن بن راشد، عن عمرو بن مغلس (2)، عن خلف، عن عطية العوفي، عن أبي سعيد الخدري، قال: سألت رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) عن قول الله جل ثناؤه: (قال الذي عنده علم من الكتاب) (3) قال: ذاك وصي أخي سليمان بن داود. فقلت له: يا رسول الله، فقول الله عزوجل: (قل كفى بالله شهيدا بينى وبينكم ومن عنده علم الكتاب) (4)، قال: ذاك أخي علي بن أبي طالب (5).

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar (rh) narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa narrated to us from al-Qasim b. Yahya from his grandfather al-Hasan b. Rashid from `Amr b. Mughlis from Khalaf from `Atiyya al-`Awfi from Abi Sa`id al-Khudri. He said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (s) about the saying of Allah, “The one who had knowledge of the Book said” (27:40). He said: That is the deputy of my brother Sulayman b. Dawud. So, I said to him: O Messenger of Allah! [What about] the saying of Allah, “Say: Allah suffices as a witness between us, as well as him with knowledge of the Book” (13:43)? He said: That is my brother `Ali b. Abi Talib.

4 - حدثنا الحسن بن محمد بن سعيد الهاشمي الكوفي، قال: حدثنا فرات بن إبراهيم بن فرات الكوفي، قال: حدثني محمد بن أحمد بن علي الهمداني، قال: حدثني الحسين بن علي، قال: حدثني عبد الله بن سعيد الهاشمي، قال: حدثني عبد الواحد بن غياث، قال: حدثنا عاصم بن سليمان، قال: حدثنا جويبر، عن الضحاك، عن ابن عباس، قال: صلينا العشاء الآخرة ذات ليلة مع رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله)، فلما سلم أقبل علينا بوجهه، ثم قال: أما إنه سينقض كوكب من السماء مع طلوع الفجر فيسقط في دار أحدكم، فمن سقط ذلك الكوكب في داره فهو وصيي وخليفتي والامام بعدي. فلما كان قرب الفجر جلس كل واحد منا في داره ينتظر سقوط الكوكب في داره، وكان أطمع القوم في ذلك أبي العباس بن عبد المطلب، فلما طلع الفجر انقض الكوكب من الهواء فسقط في دار علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام)، فقال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) لعلي (عليه السلام): يا علي، والذي بعثني بالنبوة، لقد وجبت لك الوصية والخلافة والامامة بعدي. فقال المنافقون عبد الله بن أبي وأصحابه: لقد ضل محمد في محبة ابن عمه وغوى وما ينطق في شأنه إلا بالهوى، فأنزل الله تبارك وتعالى: (والنجم إذا هوى)، يقول الله عزوجل: وخالق النجم إذا هوى (ما ضل صاحبكم) يعني محمدا (صلى الله عليه وآله) في محبة علي بن أبي طالب (وما غوى * وما ينطق عن الهوى) يعني في شأنه (إن هو إلا وحي يوحى) (1).

Al-Hasan b Muhammad b Sa`id al-Hashimi al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: Furat b. Ibrahim b. Furat al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Ahmad b. `Ali al-Hamadani narrated to me. He said: Al-Husayn b. `Al narrated to me. He said: `Abdullah b. Sa`id al-Hashimi narrated to me. He said: `Abd al-Wahid b. Ghiyath narrated to me. He said: `Asim b. Sulayman narrated to us. He said: Juwaybir narrated to us from al-Dahak from Ibn `Abbas. He said: We prayed the final `Isha with the Messenger of Allah (s). When he recited the taslim, he turned his face toward us, then said: Surely, a meteor will fall from the sky at the rise of dawn. It will land in the house of one of you. Whoever has the meteor fall into his house, then he is my deputy, my vicegerent (khalifa), and the Imam after me. When Fajr approached, every one of us sat in his house waiting for the meteor to fall in his house. The most desirous of the people of that was my father, al-`Abbas b. `Abd al-Muttalib. At the rise of dawn, the meteor emerged in the air and landed in the house of `Ali b. Abi Talib (as). So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said to `Ali (as): O `Ali! By Him who raised me with prophethood! The deputyship, vicegerency, and Imamate has been obligated for you after me. Then, the hypocrites of `Abdullah b. Ubay and his companions said: Muhammad has deviated in his love for his cousin, and he only spoke with regards to him out of desire. So, Allah revealed, “By the star when it fades away” (53:1) – Allah is saying: “By the Creator of the star when it fades away” – “Your companion has not deviated” (53:2) – meaning, Muhammad (s) in his love for `Ali b. Abi Talib – “nor has he gone astray. Nor does he speak out of desire.” (53:2-3) – meaning, with regards to him – “Rather, it is not but a revealed revelation.” (53:4)

5 - وحدثنا بهذا الحديث شيخ لاهل الرأي (2) يقال له أحمد بن محمد ابن الصقر الصائغ العدل، قال: حدثنا محمد بن العباس بن بسام، قال: حدثني أبو جعفر محمد بن أبي الهيثم السعدي، قال: حدثني أحمد بن أبي (3) الخطاب، قال: حدثنا أبو إسحاق الفزاري، عن أبيه، عن جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن جده (عليهم السلام)، عن عبد الله بن عباس، بمثل ذلك إلا أنه قال في حديثه: يهوي كوكب من السماء مع طلوع الشمس، فيسقط في دار أحدكم (4).

A shaykh of the people of Ray called Ahmad b. Muhammad b. al-Saqr al-Sa’igh al-`Adl narrated this hadith to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-`Abbas b. Bassam narrated to us. He said: Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. Abi’l Haytham al-Sa`di narrated to me. He said: Ahmad b. Abi’l Khattab narrated to me. He said: Abu Ishaq al-Fazari narrated to us from Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his grandfather (as) from `Abdullah b. `Abbas [a hadith] like it, except he said in his hadith: The meteor will fall from the sky at sunrise, and it will land in the house of one of you.

6 - وحدثنا بهذا الحديث شيخ لاهل الحديث يقال له أحمد بن الحسن القطان المعروف بأبي علي بن عبد ربه العدل، قال: حدثنا أبو العباس أحمد بن يحيى ابن زكريا القطان، قال: حدثنا بكر بن عبد الله بن حبيب، قال: حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الكوفي الجعفي، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن عبد الله السجزي (5) أبو إسحاق، عن يحيى بن الحسين المشهدي، عن أبي هارون العبدي، عن ربيعة السعدي، قال: سألت بن عباس عن قول الله عزوجل: (والنجم إذا هوى) (1) قال: هو النجم الذي هوى مع طلوع الفجر فسقط في حجرة علي بن أبي طالب، وكان أبي العباس يحب أن يسقط ذلك النجم في داره، فيحوز الوصية والخلافة والامامة، ولكن أبى الله أن يكون ذاك (2) غير علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام)، وذلك فضل الله يؤتيه من يشاء (3).

A shaykh from the people of hadith called Ahmad b. al-Hasan al-Qattan, known as Abi `Ali b. `Abd Rabbih al-`Adl narrated this hadith to us. He said: Abu’l `Abbas Ahmad b. Yahya b. Zakariyya al-Qattan narrated to us. He said: Bakr b. `Abdullah b. Habibi narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Ishaq al-Kufi al-Ju`fi narrated to us. He said: Ibrahim b. `Abdullah al-Sajzi Abu Ishaq narrated to us from Yahya b. al-Husayn al-Mashhadi from Abi Harun al-`Abdi from Rabi`a al-Sa`di. He said: I asked Ibn `Abbas about the saying of Allah, “By the star when it fades away” (53:1) He said: It is the [shooting] star that came down with the rise of Fajr into the room of `Ali b. Abi Talib. My father al-`Abbas liked for that [shooting] star to fall into his house in order to possess the deputyship, vicegerency, and Imamate. However, Allah refused that for anyone other than `Ali b. Abi Talib (as), and that is the favour of Allah, who gives it to whomever He pleases.
