أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْیَرِیُّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعِیدٍ [عَنْ فَضَالَهَ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَمَّنْ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَمَّنْ قَتَلَ نَفْساً مُتَعَمِّداً قَالَ جَزَاؤُهُ جَهَنَّمُ.

1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq was asked, “What is the punishment of murder?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Hell.”

وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعِیدٍ] عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ عُقْبَهَ عَنْ أَبِی خَالِدٍ الْقَمَّاطِ عَنْ حُمْرَانَ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَوْلُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- مِنْ أَجْلِ ذلِکَ کَتَبْنا عَلی بَنِی إِسْرائِیلَ أَنَّهُ مَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْساً بِغَیْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسادٍ فِی الْأَرْضِ فَکَأَنَّما قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِیعاً وَ إِنَّمَا قَتَلَ وَاحِداً فَقَالَ یُوضَعُ فِی مَوْضِعٍ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ إِلَیْهِ یَنْتَهِی شِدَّهُ عَذَابِ أَهْلِهَا لَوْ قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِیعاً کَانَ إِنَّمَا یَدْخُلُ ذَلِکَ الْمَکَانَ قُلْتُ فَإِنْ قَتَلَ آخَرَ قَالَ یُضَاعَفُ عَلَیْهِ.

2. And from the previous chain from al-Hussain b. Sa’eed] (1) from Muhammad b. Abi ’Umayr from Ali b. ’Uqba from Abi Khalid al-Qammat from Hamran who said: For this reason did We prescribe to the children of Israel that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men. He has killed but one? Imam (a.s.) replied, “He will be kept in a place in Hell where there will be severe chastisement and if he kills everyone, too he will be kept in this place.” The narrator asked, “What is the punishment if he murders again?” He replied, “His punishment is doubled.”

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِی الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الْکُوفِیِّ عَنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ یَزِیدَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: أَوَّلُ مَا یَحْکُمُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَی فِی الْقِیَامَهِ الدِّمَاءُ فَیُوقِفُ ابْنَیْ آدَمَ فَیَفْصِلُ بَیْنَهُمَا ثُمَّ الَّذِینَ یَلُونَهُمْ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الدِّمَاءِ حَتَّی لَا یَبْقَی مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ ثُمَّ النَّاسُ بَعْدَ ذَلِکَ فَیَأْتِی الْمَقْتُولُ قَاتِلَهُ فَیَشْخُبُ دَمُهُ فِی وَجْهِهِ فَیَقُولُ هَذَا قَتَلَنِی فَیَقُولُ أَنْتَ قَتَلْتَهُ فَلَا یَسْتَطِیعُ أَنْ یَکْتُمَ اللَّهَ حَدِیثاً.

3. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Abi al-Qasim from Muhammad b. Ali al-Kufi from al-Muffadhal b. Salih from Jabir b. Yazid from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “The Almighty Allah will account for the deeds of the murderers first on the Day of Judgment. He will gather all murderers and the victims. Every victim will stand near his/her murderer with a bleeding face. He will tell Allah: This person had murdered me. Allah will ask the murderer: Did you murder him? And the person will not be able to hide anything from Him.”

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ عَنْ عَمِّهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعِیدٍ الْأَزْرَقِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فِی رَجُلٍ قَتَلَ رَجُلًا مُؤْمِناً یُقَالُ لَهُ مُتْ أَیَّ مِیتَهٍ شِئْتَ إِنْ شِئْتَ یَهُودِیّاً وَ إِنْ شِئْتَ نَصْرَانِیّاً وَ إِنْ شِئْتَ مَجُوسِیّاً.

4. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) said that the murderer of a believer will have the option to die as a Jew, Christian or as a Magian (he will not die a Muslim).

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ یَحْیَی عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعِیدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِی نَجْرَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی الْجَارُودِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ ع قَالَ: مَا مِنْ نَفْسٍ تُقْتَلُ بَرَّهً وَ لَا فَاجِرَهً إِلَّا وَ هِیَ تُحْشَرُ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَهِ مُعَلَّقاً بِقَاتِلِهِ بِیَدِهِ الْیُمْنَی وَ رَأْسُهُ بِیَدِهِ الْیُسْرَی وَ أَوْدَاجُهُ تَشْخُبُ دَماً یَقُولُ یَا رَبِّ سَلْ هَذَا فِیمَ قَتَلَنِی فَإِنْ کَانَ قَتَلَهُ فِی طَاعَهِ اللَّهِ یُثِیبُ الْقَاتِلُ وَ ذُهِبَ بِالْمَقْتُولِ إِلَی النَّارِ وَ إِنْ کَانَ فِی طَاعَهِ فُلَانٍ قِیلَ لَهُ اقْتُلْهُ کَمَا قَتَلَکَ ثُمَّ یَفْعَلُ اللَّهُ فِیهِمَا بَعْدَ مَشِیَّتِهِ.

5. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakil who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Yahya from Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hussain b. Sa’eed from Abdulrahman b. Abi Najran from Muhammad b. Sinan from Abi al-Jarud from Muhammad b. Ali (a.s.) who said: “A murder victim is not good or bad. He will be brought on the Judgment Day holding his killer by his collar with the right hand and holding his severed head in the left with blood dripping from it. He will say: O Lord! Ask him why he had murdered me? Thus if he had killed on the order of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, Allah will take the murderer to Paradise and the person to Hell but if he had killed him on the order of someone else, he would be told, ‘Kill him like he killed you.’ Then Allah will deal with them as He likes.”

حَدَّثَنِی جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَسْرُورٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی الْحُسَیْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ الْبَخْتَرِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: إِنَّ امْرَأَهً عُذِّبَتْ فِی هِرَّهٍ رَبَطَتْهَا حَتَّی مَاتَتْ عَطَشاً.

6. It was narrated to me by Ja’far b. Muhammad b. Masroor who said it was narrated to me by al-Hussain b. Muhammad b. ’Amir from Ibn Abi ’Umayr from Hafs b. al-Bukhtari from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “Even that woman will be punished severely who had left a goat tied in sun and it died of thirst.”

وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنِ الْحَلَبِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص إِنَّ أَعَقَّ النَّاسِ عَلَی اللَّهِ تَعَالَی مَنْ قَتَلَ غَیْرَ قَاتِلِهِ وَ مَنْ ضَرَبَ مَنْ لَمْ یَضْرِبْهُ.

7. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) said, “A person most unjust in Allah’s eyes is one who kills a person who hasn’t murdered him or hurt one who did not hurt him.”

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحَکَمِ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ سُلَیْمَانَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع یَقُولُ أَوْحَی اللَّهُ تَعَالَی إِلَی مُوسَی بْنِ عِمْرَانَ أَنْ یَا مُوسَی قُلْ لِلْمَلَإِ مِنْ بَنِی إِسْرَائِیلَ إِیَّاکُمْ وَ قَتْلَ النَّفْسِ الْحَرَامِ بِغَیْرِ حَقٍّ فَإِنَّ مَنْ قَتَلَ مِنْکُمْ نَفْساً فِی الدُّنْیَا قَتَلْتُهُ فِی النَّارِ مِائَهَ أَلْفِ قَتْلَهٍ مِثْلَ قَتْلِ صَاحِبِهِ.

8. It is narrated that Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) said that the Almighty Allah revealed onto Prophet Musa (a.s.), “Keep away from murdering a human being unlawfully. If one of you murders someone, he will be murdered a hundred thousand times in Hell in the same way as he had murdered his victim.”

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِی الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الْکُوفِیِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ الْحَلَبِیِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع مَنْ قَتَلَ مُؤْمِناً مُتَعَمِّداً أَثْبَتَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَی عَلَیْهِ جَمِیعَ الذُّنُوبِ وَ بَرِئَ الْمَقْتُولُ مِنْهَا وَ ذَلِکَ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَی أُرِیدُ أَنْ تَبُوءَ بِإِثْمِی وَ إِثْمِکَ فَتَکُونَ مِنْ أَصْحابِ النَّارِ

9. Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) said, “One who murders someone, the Almighty Allah will write all the sins of the victim in the name of his murderer and cleanse the victim. This is described the verse: Surely I wish that you should bear the sin committed against me and your own sin, and so you would be of the inmates of the fire.”
