This is a volunteer role for careful Arabic readers who can support the public educational work of Stichting Thaqalayn.
Content Moderator
Purpose
The role protects the quality of the hadith library by turning reader reports into careful editorial action. Moderators help ensure that reported translation concerns are treated seriously and resolved responsibly.
Arabic Required
Arabic skill is required because reports must be checked against the source text. The work often depends on grammar, context, terminology, and recognizing when a literal correction would not improve the translation.
Editorial Care
This is not a role for issuing religious rulings or changing scholarly positions. The focus is translation accuracy, clarity, typo correction, formatting, and responsible escalation when a case is uncertain.
Responsibilities
- Review reports submitted by readers about hadith translation issues.
- Compare reported passages against the Arabic source text and available translation context.
- Decide whether a correction is needed, whether more review is required, or whether the report can be closed.
- Make careful translation edits where appropriate, preserving the meaning and scholarly tone of the source.
- Document the reasoning behind significant edits so future moderators can understand the decision.
What We Look For
- Strong Arabic reading ability, especially for classical Islamic texts.
- Fluent written English and good editorial judgment.
- Careful attention to source text, context, terminology, and translator intent.
- Respect for scholarly disagreement and willingness to escalate uncertain cases.
- Availability for consistent volunteer review work, even if the weekly time commitment is modest.
Review Workflow
Moderation work should be slow enough to be trustworthy and structured enough to be repeatable. The expected workflow for each report is:
Read the user report and identify the exact translated passage being questioned.
Check the corresponding Arabic text and surrounding hadith context.
Evaluate whether the issue is a typo, mistranslation, missing nuance, formatting problem, or not an error.
Apply a correction or leave a clear moderation note for another reviewer.
Close the report only when the decision is traceable and the public text is ready.

Application Form
The application form uses your Thaqalayn account for your name and email, then asks for your location, English and Arabic level and background, religious background, experience with Islamic texts, availability, and a few role-specific review questions.
Applications are sent directly to the Thaqalayn team by email. We may follow up with a small review exercise before adding volunteers to the moderation process.
If you are selected as a potential candidate, there will always be an interview call with the team before any volunteer role is confirmed.
A Good Fit
You do not need to be available full time. The most valuable contribution is consistent, careful review from someone who understands the weight of editing religious source material and is comfortable saying, "This needs another reviewer."
