572. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Khalid and Al-Husayn Bin Saeed, from Al-Nazar Bin Suweyd, from Yahya Al-Halby, from Ibn Muskaan, from Ammar Bin Suweyd who said: ‘I heard Abu Abdullah saying regarding this Verse: “[11:12] Then, it may be that you will give up part of what is revealed to you and your breast will become straitened by it because they say: Why has not a treasure been sent down upon him or an angel come with him?”, When the Rasool Allah ﷺ encamped at Qudeyd and said to Ali : ‘O Ali ! I ﷺ asked my ﷺ Lord (azwj) to Establish friendship between me and you , so He (azwj) Did it. And I ﷺ asked my ﷺ Lord (azwj) to Establish brotherhood between me ﷺ and you , so he (azwj) Did it. And I ﷺ asked my ﷺ Lord (azwj) to Make you to be my ﷺ successor, so He (azwj) Did it. Two men (Abu Bakr and Umar) from Qureysh said, ‘By Allah (azwj)! A Sa’a (unit of measurement) of dates in a basket is more beloved to us than what Muhammad ﷺ asked his ﷺ Lord (azwj) for. So, had he ﷺ asked his ﷺ Lord (azwj) for an Angel to support him ﷺ against his ﷺ enemies, or a treasure to make us to be needless by it from the hunger. By Allah (azwj)! He ﷺ does not supplicate to Him (azwj), be it true or false, but that He (azwj) Answers him ﷺ’. So Allah (azwj), Glorious and High Revealed: “[11:12] Then, it may be that you will give up part of what is revealed to you and your breast will become straitened by it” – up to the end of the Verse’.
