Book 1, Chapter 379

Conditions of the Shi’ah in absence of the Imam
1 Ḥadīth

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجْرَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْجَارُودِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عليه السلام) قَالَ لَا تَرَوْنَ الَّذِي تَنْتَظِرُونَ حَتَّى تَكُونُوا كَالْمِعْزَى الْمُوَاتِ الَّتِي لَا يُبَالِي الْخَابِسُ أَيْنَ يَضَعُ يَدَهُ فِيهَا لَيْسَ لَكُمْ شَرَفٌ تَرْقَوْنَهُ وَ لَا سِنَادٌ تُسْنِدُونَ إِلَيْهِ أَمْرَكُمْ.


379. A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ibn Abu Najraan, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Abu Al-Jaroud, who has said: Abu Ja’far (a.s) having said: ‘You will not see that which you all are waiting for (Al-Qaim (a.s)) until you become like the dead goat for whom the lion does not care where it places its paws on. There will be no honour for you to rise up to, and no supporter to lend you his support in your matters’.
