Book 1, Chapter 155

When love is not helpful
1 Ḥadīth

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ السِّنْدِيِّ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ عَنْبَسَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلام) قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ خَالِطُوا النَّاسَ فَإِنَّهُ إِنْ لَمْ يَنْفَعْكُمْ حُبُّ عَلِيٍّ وَ فَاطِمَةَ (عليها السلام) فِي السِّرِّ لَمْ يَنْفَعْكُمْ فِي الْعَلَانِيَةِ.


155. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Saleh Bin Al-Sindy, from Ja’far Bin Basheer, from Anbasat, who has narrated the following: Abu Abdullah (a.s), said, ‘I hear him (a.s) saying: ‘Intermingle with the people, for if the love for Ali (a.s) and Fatima (s.a) does not benefit you in the privacy, it will not benefit you publicly’.
