6. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from af-Husayn ibn Khafid who has said the following: “I once asked al-Rida’, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about when to offer congratulations for the birth of a child. Jibril descended to congratulate the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, on the seventh day and instructed to name him and give him a Kunyah, shave his head, offer ‘Aqiqah for him and pierce a hole in his ear. When al-Husayn, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, was born Jibril came on the seventh day and instructed similarly.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘They both had two bunches of hairs on the left middle side of their head and the hole was in their right ear on the loop and on the left one it was on the top of the ear. Earring was in the right ear and al-Shanf (earring) on the left ear.’ It is narrated that the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, left two bunches of hairs on the middle of their head and it is more correct than al-Qarn (the left middle of the head).”’
