1- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا حَقُّ الزَّوْجِ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ فَقَالَ لَهَا أَنْ تُطِيعَهُ وَلا تَعْصِيَهُ وَلا تَصَدَّقَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ إِلا بِإِذْنِهِ وَلا تَصُومَ تَطَوُّعاً إِلا بِإِذْنِهِ وَلا تَمْنَعَهُ نَفْسَهَا وَإِنْ كَانَتْ عَلَى ظَهْرِ قَتَبٍ وَلا تَخْرُجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهَا إِلا بِإِذْنِهِ وَإِنْ خَرَجَتْ مِنْ بَيْتِهَا بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِ لَعَنَتْهَا مَلائِكَةُ السَّمَاءِ وَمَلائِكَةُ الأرْضِ وَمَلائِكَةُ الْغَضَبِ وَمَلائِكَةُ الرَّحْمَةِ حَتَّى تَرْجِعَ إِلَى بَيْتِهَا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَنْ أَعْظَمُ النَّاسِ حَقّاً عَلَى الرَّجُلِ قَالَ وَالِدُهُ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَنْ أَعْظَمُ النَّاسِ حَقّاً عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ قَالَ زَوْجُهَا قَالَتْ فَمَا لِي عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ مِثْلُ مَا لَهُ عَلَيَّ قَالَ لا وَلا مِنْ كُلِّ مِائَةٍ وَاحِدَةٌ قَالَ فَقَالَتْ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ نَبِيّاً لا يَمْلِكُ رَقَبَتِي رَجُلٌ أَبَداً.

1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Mahbub from Malik ibn ‘Atiyyah from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that once a woman came to the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, and asked, ‘What is the right of husband on a woman?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said to her, ‘She must yield to and obey him and must not oppose and disobey him. She must not give charity from his house without his permission and must not fast optionally without his permission. If she goes out of his house without his permission, the angels of skies and earth condemn her as well the angels of wrath and angels of mercy until she returns to her home.’ She then asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, who has the greatest right on a man?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) replied, ‘His father has the greatest right.’ She then asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, who has the greatest right on a woman?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) replied, ‘Her husband has the greatest right on her.’ She then asked, ‘How is it that I do not have as much right on him as he has on me?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘No, not even one out of one hundred.’ She then said, ‘I swear by the One who has sent you as a prophet in all truth; I will never allow any man to have a hold of my neck.’” 

2- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الْجَلابِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ بَاتَتْ وَزَوْجُهَا عَلَيْهَا سَاخِطٌ فِي حَقٍّ لَمْ تُقْبَلْ مِنْهَا صَلاةٌ حَتَّى يَرْضَى عَنْهَا وَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ تَطَيَّبَتْ لِغَيْرِ زَوْجِهَا لَمْ تُقْبَلْ مِنْهَا صَلاةٌ حَتَّى تَغْتَسِلَ مِنْ طِيبِهَا كَغُسْلِهَا مِنْ جَنَابَتِهَا.

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl from Sa‘d ibn abu ‘Amr al-Jallab who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a woman passes a night and her husband is angry with her because of a right to which she does not yield, her Salat (prayer) is not accepted until he becomes happy with her. If a woman wears perfume for other than her husband, her Salat (prayer) is not accepted until she washes them clean just as she takes a Ghusl (bath) because of going to bed.’” 

3- عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ بَكْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ ثَلاثَةٌ لا يُرْفَعُ لَهُمْ عَمَلٌ عَبْدٌ آبِقٌ وَامْرَأَةٌ زَوْجُهَا عَلَيْهَا سَاخِطٌ وَالْمُسْبِلُ إِزَارَهُ خُيَلاءَ.

3. Ali ibn al-Hakam from has narrated from Musa ibn Bakr who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The good deeds of three kinds of people cannot rise up. One is a runaway slave, a woman whose husband is not happy with her and one who drags his gown on the ground out of pride.’” 

4- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ بَكْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ جِهَادُ الْمَرْأَةِ حُسْنُ التَّبَعُّلِ.

4. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ali ibn Hassan from Musa ibn Bakr who has said the following: “Abu Ibrahim (a.s.), has said, ‘Jihad (struggle for the cause of Allah) of a woman is her living a proper spousal life.’” 

5- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُنْذِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ ثَلاثَةٌ لا تُقْبَلُ لَهُمْ صَلاةٌ عَبْدٌ آبِقٌ مِنْ مَوَالِيهِ حَتَّى يَضَعَ يَدَهُ فِي أَيْدِيهِمْ وَامْرَأَةٌ بَاتَتْ وَزَوْجُهَا عَلَيْهَا سَاخِطٌ وَرَجُلٌ أَمَّ قَوْماً وَهُمْ لَهُ كَارِهُونَ.

5. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from al-Hassan ibn al-Mundhir who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Salat (prayer) of three kinds of people is not accepted. One is a runaway slave from his masters until he places his hand in their hands, a woman who passes the night when her husband is angry with her and a man who leads a people in Salat (prayer) and they dislike him.’” 

6- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) أَنَّ قَوْماً أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا رَأَيْنَا أُنَاساً يَسْجُدُ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) لَوْ أَمَرْتُ أَحَداً أَنْ يَسْجُدَ لأحَدٍ لأمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا.

6. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Mahbub from Malik ibn ‘Atiyyah from Sulayman ibn Khalid who has said the following: “Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that once a people came to the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, we saw a people who prostrate for each other.’ The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, said, ‘If I were to command anyone to prostrate for others I would command the woman to prostrate for her husband.’” 

7- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنِ الْجَامُورَانِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ الْعَزْرَمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا حَقُّ الزَّوْجِ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ قَالَ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَتْ فَخَبِّرْنِي عَنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ لَيْسَ لَهَا أَنْ تَصُومَ إِلا بِإِذْنِهِ يَعْنِي تَطَوُّعاً وَلا تَخْرُجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهَا إِلا بِإِذْنِهِ وَعَلَيْهَا أَنْ تَطَيَّبَ بِأَطْيَبِ طِيبِهَا وَتَلْبَسَ أَحْسَنَ ثِيَابِهَا وَتَزَيَّنَ بِأَحْسَنِ زِينَتِهَا وَتَعْرِضَ نَفْسَهَا عَلَيْهِ غُدْوَةً وَعَشِيَّةً وَأَكْثَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ حُقُوقُهُ عَلَيْهَا.

7. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Khalid from al-Jamuraniy from ibn abu Hamzah from “Amr ibn Jubayr al-‘Arzamiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that once a woman came to the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, and asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is the right of husband on the wife?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘Should I tell you a great deal about it?’ She said, ‘Tell me something about it.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘She must not fast an optional fast without his permission, must not go out of her house without his permission, must wear the best of perfumes for him and the best of her dresses, wear the best of make up for him, make herself available for him in the mornings and evenings; and his rights on her are more than this.’” 

8- عَنْهُ عَنِ الْجَامُورَانِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمَغْرَاءِ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ أَتَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) فَقَالَتْ مَا حَقُّ الزَّوْجِ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ فَقَالَ أَنْ تُجِيبَهُ إِلَى حَاجَتِهِ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ عَلَى قَتَبٍ وَلا تُعْطِيَ شَيْئاً إِلا بِإِذْنِهِ فَإِنْ فَعَلَتْ فَعَلَيْهَا الْوِزْرُ وَلَهُ الأجْرُ وَلا تَبِيتَ لَيْلَةً وَهُوَ عَلَيْهَا سَاخِطٌ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ ظَالِماً قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَتْ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ لا تَزَوَّجْتُ زَوْجاً أَبَداً. 

8. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from al-Jamuraniy from ibn abu Hamzah from abu al-Mighra’ from abu Basir who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that once a woman came to the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, and asked, ‘What is the right of husband on the wife?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘Of his rights is to make herself available for him even when on the back of a camel and must not give anything without his permission. If she does it, she carries the sin and the reward is for him. She must not pass a night with him angry on her.’ She asked, ‘Even if he acts unjustly, O Messenger of Allah?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) replied, ‘Yes, even if he is as such.”
