Al-Kāfi - Volume 3 > Mistake in the Morning, al-Maghrib and Friday Salah (Prayer)
Hadith #1

1ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ جَمِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ الْبَخْتَرِيِّ وَغَيْرِهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا شَكَكْتَ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ فَأَعِدْ وَإِذَا شَكَكْتَ فِي الْفَجْرِ فَأَعِدْ.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from and Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from af-Fadf ibn Shadhan all from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Hafs ibn al-Bakhtariy and others who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘If you doubt in al-Maghrib Salah (prayer) perform it again. If you doubt in the morning Salah (prayer) perform it again.’”



Hadith #2

2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُصَلِّي وَلاَ يَدْرِي وَاحِدَةً صَلَّى أَمْ ثِنْتَيْنِ قَالَ يَسْتَقْبِلُ حَتَّى يَسْتَيْقِنَ أَنَّهُ قَدْ أَتَمَّ وَفِي الْجُمُعَةِ وَفِي الْمَغْرِبِ وَفِي الصَّلاَةِ فِي السَّفَرِ.

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad, from Hariz from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about a man who performs Salah (prayer) but does not know if he has performed one or two (Rak‘at). He (the Imam) said, ‘He performs it again to ascertain that he has completed it and so also is the case with Friday, al-Maghrib and Salah (prayer) on a journey.’”



Hadith #3

3ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ سَيْفِ بْنِ عَمِيرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ بِأَصْحَابِيَ الْمَغْرِبَ فَلَمَّا أَنْ صَلَّيْتُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ سَلَّمْتُ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ إِنَّمَا صَلَّيْتَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَأَعَدْتُ فَأَخْبَرْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فَقَالَ لَعَلَّكَ أَعَدْتَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَضَحِكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يُجْزِئُكَ أَنْ تَقُومَ فَتَرْكَعَ رَكْعَةً.

3. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Ash’ariy has narrated from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amir from Ali ibn Mahziyar from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from Sayf ibn ‘Amirah from abu Bakr al-Hadramiy who has said the following: “I once performed al-Maghrib Salah (prayer) with my people but after two Rak‘at I said the phrase of offering greeting of peace and someone from them said, ‘You performed only two Rak‘at.’ I performed it again. I then informed abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about it and he said, ‘Perhaps you performed it again.’ I said, ‘Yes, I did so.’ He (the narrator) has said that he (the Imam) smiled and said, ‘You only had to stand up and perform one Rak‘at.’”



Hadith #4

4ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ لَيْسَ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْفَجْرِ سَهْوٌ.

4. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yunus from a man who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘There is no confusion (acceptable) in al-Maghrib and morning Salah (prayer).”’
