82. Establishing Prayers in Full Form Next to the Grave of Ĥusain (a.s.)

1 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَتِّيلٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْآدَمِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِي شِبْلٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) أَزُورُ قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) قَالَ زُرِ الطَّيِّبَ وَ أَتِمَّ الصَّلَاةَ عِنْدَهُ قَالَ أَتِمَّ الصَّلَاةَ عِنْدَهُ قَالَ أَتِمَّ قُلْتُ فَإِنَّ بَعْضَ أَصْحَابِنَا يَرْوِي التَّقْصِيرَ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ الضَّعَفَةُ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ره عَنْ جَمَاعَةِ مَشَايِخِهِ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ سَوَاءً


1. My father and Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan both narrated to me from Ĥasan ibn Mattǐl, from Sahl ibn Ziyād Al-Ādami, from Muĥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Šāliĥ ibn ‘Uqbah, from Abǐ Shibl, who said: I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)), “Should I go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.)?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Go to the Ziyārah of the Blessed One and establish prayers in full form next to his grave.” I asked, “Establish prayers in full form next to him?!” Imam (a.s.) replied, “(Establish prayers) in full form.” I said, “(But) some of our companions narrate that prayers should be established in Taqšǐr?!” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Those who are weak do this.” The above Ĥadǐth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: Muĥammad ibn Ya’qūb, from all of his scholars, from Sahl ibn Ziyāh, from Muĥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Šāliĥ ibn ‘Uqbah, from Abǐ Shibl, from Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).




2 حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَلِيٍّ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي الْبِلَادِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا يُقَالُ لَهُ الْحُسَيْنُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ تَتِمُّ الصَّلَاةُ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ مَوَاطِنَ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَ مَسْجِدِ الرَّسُولِ (ص) وَ عِنْدَ قَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ ع


2. Abū ‘Abdil Raĥmān Muĥammad ibn Aĥmad Al-‘Askari narrated to me from Ĥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Mahziyār, from his father ‘Ali, from Ĥusain ibn Sa’ǐd, from Ibrāhǐm ibn Abil Bilād, from one of our companions whose name was Ĥusain, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: You can establish (the obligatory) prayers in full form in three locations: in Masjid Al-Ĥarām, in the Mosque of the Messenger (s.a.a.w.), and next to the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.).




3 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) وَ أَخِي وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الْقُمِّيِّ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ خَادِمِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ تَتِمُّ الصَّلَاةُ فِي أَرْبَعَةِ مَوَاطِنَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَ مَسْجِدِ الرَّسُولِ (ص) وَ مَسْجِدِ الْكُوفَةِ وَ حَرَمِ الْحُسَيْنِ ع


3. My father, my brother, and ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain all narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Ĥusain ibn Sa’ǐd, (from Muĥammad ibn Sinān), from ‘Abdil Malik Al-Qummi, from Ismā’ǐl ibn Jābir, from ‘Abdil Ĥamǐd – the servant of Ismā’ǐl ibn Ja’far, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: You can establish (the obligatory) prayers in full form in four locations: in Masjid Al-Ĥarām, in the Mosque of the Messenger (s.a.a.w.), in the Mosque of Kūfah, and in the Ĥaram of Ĥusain (a.s.).”




4 حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْيَرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ الْمَذْخُورِ إِتْمَامُ الصَّلَاةِ فِي أَرْبَعَةِ مَوَاطِنَ بِمَكَّةَ وَ الْمَدِينَةِ وَ مَسْجِدِ الْكُوفَةِ وَ الْحَائِرِ


4. Muĥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Ja’far Al-Ĥimyari narrated to me from his father, from Aĥmad ibn Abǐ ‘Abdillāh Al-Barqi, from his father, from Ĥmmād ibn ‘Isā, from some of our companions, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: The following is among the rulings which are reserved (in the Knowledge of Allāh): (a traveler can) establish prayers in full form in four locations: in Makkah, in Madǐnah, in the Mosque of Kūfah, and in the Ĥā`ir.




5 قَالَ ابْنُ قُولَوَيْهِ وَ زَادَهُ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَقِبَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ بِمَا أَخْبَرَهُ بِهِ حَيْدَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ السَّمَرْقَنْدِيُّ بِإِجَازَتِهِ بِخَطِّهِ بِاجْتِيَازِهِ لِلْحَجِّ عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ الْعَيَّاشِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَرْقِيِّ وَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ وَ أَبِي عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ جَمِيعاً عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) أَنَّهُ قَالَ مِنْ مَخْزُونِ عِلْمِ اللَّهِ الْإِتْمَامُ فِي أَرْبَعَةِ مَوَاطِنَ حَرَمِ اللَّهِ وَ حَرَمِ رَسُولِهِ وَ حَرَمِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ حَرَمِ الْحُسَيْنِ ص


5. Ĥusain ibn Aĥmad ibn Mughǐrah (the student of the author) added the following after the previous Ĥadǐth: Ĥaydar ibn Muĥammad ibn Nu’aym Al-Samarqandi narrated to me from Abil Naďr Muĥammad ibn Mas’ūd Al-‘Ayyāshi, from ‘Ali ibn Muĥammad, from Muĥammad ibn Aĥmad, from Ĥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Nu’mān, from Abǐ ‘Abdillāh Al-Barqi, and from ‘Ali ibn Mahziyār, and from Abǐ ‘Ali ibn Rāshid, from Ĥammād ibn ‘Isā, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: Among the matters which are reserved in the knowledge of Allāh is establishing prayers in full form in four locations: in the Ĥaram of Allāh, in the Ĥaram of His Messenger, in the Ĥaram of the Commander of the Believers, and in the Ĥaram of Ĥusain – may Allāh’s blessings be upon all of them.




6 حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَمَّامِ بْنِ سُهَيْلٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْفَزَارِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَمْدَانَ الْمَدَائِنِيُّ عَنْ زِيَادٍ الْقَنْدِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُوسَى (ع) أُحِبُّ لَكَ مَا أُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِي وَ أَكْرَهُ لَكَ مَا أَكْرَهُ لِنَفْسِي أَتِمَّ الصَّلَاةَ فِي الْحَرَمَيْنِ وَ بِالْكُوفَةِ وَ عِنْدَ قَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ ع


6. Muĥammad ibn Hammām ibn Suhayl narrated to me from Ja’far ibn Muĥammad ibn Mālik Al-Fazāri, from Muĥammad ibn Ĥamdān Al-Madā`ini, from Ziyād Al-Qandi, who said: Abul Ĥasan Mūsā (Imam Kāżim (a.s.)) said to me, “I love for you that which I love for myself and I hate for you that which I hate for myself. Establish prayers in full form in the two Ĥarams, in (the Mosque of) Kūfah, and next to the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.).”




7 حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ الْقَزْوِينِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَسَدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ الصَّحَّافُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَرْزُوقٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ (ع) عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الْحَرَمَيْنِ وَ فِي الْكُوفَةِ وَ عِنْدَ قَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) قَالَ أَتِمَّ الصَّلَاةَ فِيهِمْ


7. ‘Ali ibn Ĥātim Al-Qazwǐni narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Abǐ ‘Abdillāh Al-Asadi, from Qāsim ibn Rabǐ’ Al-Šaĥĥāf, from ‘Amr ibn ‘Uthmān, from ‘Amr ibn Marzūq, who said: I asked Abal Ĥasan (Imam Kāżim (a.s.)) about establishing prayers in the two Ĥarams, in (the Mosque of) Kūfah, and next to the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.). Imam (a.s.) replied, “Establish prayers in full form in these locations.”




8 حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ وَ جَمَاعَةُ مَشَايِخِي ره عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْعَطَّارِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) يَقُولُ تَتِمُّ الصَّلَاةُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَ مَسْجِدِ الرَّسُولِ وَ مَسْجِدِ الْكُوفَةِ وَ حَرَمِ الْحُسَيْنِ


8. Muĥammad ibn Ya’qūb and all of my scholars narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Yaĥyā Al-‘Aťťār, from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain, from Muĥammad ibn Sinān, from Ĥudhayfah ibn Manšūr, who said: A man heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) say: Establish your prayers in full form in Masjid Al-Ĥarām, in the Mosque of the Messenger (s.a.a.w.), in the Mosque of Kūfah, and in the Ĥaram of Ĥusain (a.s.).




9 وَ مِنْ زِيَادَةِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ مَا فِي حَدِيثِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ إِدْرِيسَ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا الْقُمِّيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ قائد [فَائِدٍ الْحَنَّاطِ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الْمَاضِي (ع) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الْحَرَمَيْنِ فَقَالَ تُتِمُّ وَ لَوْ مَرَرْتَ بِهِ مَارّاً


9. Ĥusain ibn Aĥmad ibn Mughǐrah (the student of the author) added the following: Aĥmad ibn Idrǐs ibn Aĥmad ibn Zakariyyā Al-Qummi narrated from Muĥammad ibn ‘Abdil Jabbār, from ‘Ali ibn Ismā’ǐl, from Muĥammad ibn ‘Amr, from Qā`id Al-Ĥannāť, who said: I asked Abal Ĥasan Al-Māďi (Imam Kāżim (a.s.)) about establishing prayers in the two Ĥarams. Imam (a.s.) replied, “Establish prayers in full form even if you are passing through (Makkah or Madǐnah).”




10 حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي زَاهِرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ الزَّيَّاتِ عَنْ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي الْحَسَنِ (ع) أُقَصِّرُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ أَوْ أُتِمُّ قَالَ إِنْ قَصَّرْتَ فَلَكَ وَ إِنْ أَتْمَمْتَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ وَ زِيَادَةٌ فِي الْخَيْرِ خَيْرٌ


10. Aĥmad ibn Idrǐs narrated to me from Aĥmad ibn Abǐ Zāhir, from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain Al-Zayyāt, from Ĥusain ibn ‘Imrān, from ‘Imrān, who said: I asked Abal Ĥasan (Imam Kāżim (a.s.)), “Should I establish prayers in Taqšǐr or in full form when I am in Masjid Al-Ĥarām?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “You can choose to pray in Taqšǐr but it is better if you pray in full form because doing more good deeds is always a blessing.”
