Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ الْحُسَیْنِ السَّعْدَآبَادِیُّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِی عِمْرَانَ الْأَرْمَنِیِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَنْصَارِیِّ عَنْ هِشَامٍ الْجَوَالِیقِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ صَلَّی الصَّلَاهَ لِغَیْرِ وَقْتِهَا رُفِعَتْ لَهُ سَوْدَاءُ مُظْلِمَهٌ تَقُولُ ضَیَّعَکَ اللَّهُ کَمَا ضَیَّعْتَنِی وَ أَوَّلُ مَا یُسْأَلُ الْعَبْدُ إِذَا وَقَفَ بَیْنَ یَدَیِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ عَنِ الصَّلَاهِ فَإِنْ زَکَتْ صَلَاتُهُ زَکَی سَائِرُ عَمَلِهِ وَ إِنْ لَمْ تَزْکُ لَمْ یَزْکُ عَمَلُهُ.

1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) narrates that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who does not offer Salaat during its time, it goes to the divine throne with black face and says: May Allah waste you in the same way as you wasted me. When a person is made to stand on the Day of Judgment, the first question that will be asked to him will be related to his prayers. If Salaat is accepted, all good deeds will be accepted and if Salaat is rejected, all good deeds will be rejected.”

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ یَعْقُوبَ بْنِ یَزِیدَ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ یَحْیَی عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ خَارِجَهَ عَنْ أَبِی بَصِیرٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: الصَّلَاهُ وُکِّلَ بِهَا مَلَکٌ لَیْسَ لَهُ عَمَلٌ غَیْرُهَا فَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْهَا قَبَضَهَا ثُمَّ صَعِدَ بِهَا فَإِنْ کَانَتْ مِمَّا تُقْبَلُ قُبِلَتْ وَ إِنْ کَانَتْ مِمَّا لَا تُقْبَلُ قِیلَ لَهُ رُدَّهَا عَلَی عَبْدِی فَیَنْزِلُ بِهَا حَتَّی یَضْرِبَ بِهَا وَجْهَهُ ثُمَّ یَقُولُ لَهُ أُفٍّ لَکَ لَا یَزَالُ لَکَ عَمَلٌ یغنینی [یُعْنِتُنِی].

2. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Ya’qub b. Yazid from Safwan b. Yahya from Harun b. Kharija from Abi Basir from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: your deeds always trouble me.”

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الْکُوفِیِّ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ سَعِیدِ بْنِ غَزْوَانَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِیلَ بْنِ أَبِی زِیَادٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ آبَائِهِ عَنْ أَمِیرِ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص لَا یَزَالُ الشَّیْطَانُ هَائِباً لِابْنِ آدَمَ ذَاعِراً مِنْهُ مَا صَلَّی الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسَ لِوَقْتِهِنَّ فَإِذَا ضَیَّعَهُنَّ اجْتَرَی عَلَیْهِ فَأَدْخَلَهُ فِی الْعَظَائِمِ.

3. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) narrates from his ancestors that Amirul Momineen (a.s.) relates that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “Shaitaan fears man as long as he offers five times prayer in its prime time. When the person wastes these Salaat, Shaitaan gets bold and involves that person in greater sins.”
