 حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی إِبْرَاهِیمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الْأَنْصَارِیِّ عَنْ عِیسَی بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ أَبِی طَالِبٍ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ: بَلَغَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص أَنَّ قَوْماً مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ صَفَّرُوا لِحَاهُمْ فَقَالَ هَذَا خِضَابُ الْإِسْلَامِ إِنِّی لَأُحِبُّ أَنْ أَرَاهُمْ قَالَ عَلِیٌّ ع فَمَرَرْتُ عَلَیْهِمْ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُمْ فَأَتَوْهُ فَلَمَّا رَآهُمْ قَالَ هَذَا خِضَابُ الْإِسْلَامِ قَالَ فَلَمَّا سَمِعُوا ذَلِکَ مِنْهُ رَغِبُوا فَأَقْنَوْا قَالَ فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ ذَلِکَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص قَالَ هَذَا خِضَابُ الْإِیمَانِ إِنِّی لَأُحِبُّ أَنْ أَرَاهُمْ قَالَ عَلِیٌّ ع فَمَرَرْتُ عَلَیْهِمْ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُمْ فَأَتَوْهُ فَلَمَّا رَآهُمْ قَالَ هَذَا خِضَابُ الْإِیمَانِ فَلَمَّا سَمِعُوا ذَلِکَ مِنْهُ بَقُوا عَلَیْهِ حَتَّی مَاتُوا.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar who said it was narrated to me by Ibrahim b. Hashim from Muhammad b. Ali al-Ansari from Isa b. Abdillah from Muhammad b. Umar b. Ali b. Abi Talib from his grandfather who said: “This is the dye of faith.” After hearing this saying, those people continued this deed till they lived.”

 أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ ظَرِیفِ بْنِ نَاصِحٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ خَلِیفَهَ الْعَبْدِیِّ عَنِ الْمُثَنَّی الْیَمَانِیِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أَحَبُّ خِضَابِکُمْ إِلَی اللَّهِ الْحَالِکُ.

2.  The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) says, “The color of dye, which Allah likes the most is dark black.”

 حَدَّثَنِی أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الْبَغْدَادِیِّ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَکِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَیْدٍ رَفَعَ الْحَدِیثَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص دِرْهَمٌ فِی الْخِضَابِ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ نَفَقَهِ أَلْفِ دِرْهَمٍ فِی سَبِیلِ اللَّهِ وَ فِیهِ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَهَ خَصْلَهً یَطْرُدُ الرِّیحَ مِنَ الْأُذُنَیْنِ وَ یَجْلُو الْغِشَاوَهَ مِنَ الْبَصَرِ وَ یُلَیِّنُ الْخَیَاشِیمَ وَ یُطَیِّبُ النَّکْهَهَ وَ یَشُدُّ اللِّثَهَ وَ یُذْهِبُ الصُّنَانَ وَ یُقِلُّ وَسْوَسَهَ الشَّیْطَانِ وَ تَفْرَحُ بِهِ الْمَلَائِکَهُ وَ یَسْتَبْشِرُ بِهِ الْمُؤْمِنُ وَ یَغِیظُ بِهِ الْکَافِرَ وَ هِیَ زِینَهٌ وَ طِیبٌ وَ بَرَاءَهٌ لَهُ فِی قَبْرِهِ وَ یَسْتَحْیِی مِنْهُ مُنْکَرٌ وَ نَکِیرٌ.

3.  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) says, “Spending a dirham for dye is equal to spending a hundred dirhams in the way of Allah. There are fourteen benefits of applying dye – it stops air from ears, improves eyesight, softens the  root of nose, mouth smells good, jaws become strong, removes the odor of armpits, evil thoughts lessen, angels become happy, it is a cause  of  glad-tidings  for  a  believer  and  suffering  for  a disbeliever,   it   is   the   cause   of   beauty,   fragrance   and avoidance of the hardships of grave and Munkir and Nakir would shy due to dye.”

 وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِیلَ الصُّوفِیِّ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ أَبِی الْعَبَّاسِ عَنْ عُبْدُوسِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِیمَ الْبَغْدَادِیِّ رَفَعَ الْحَدِیثَ إِلَی أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: الْحِنَّاءُ یَذْهَبُ بِالسَّهَکِ وَ یَزِیدُ فِی مَاءِ الْوَجْهِ وَ یُطَیِّبُ النَّکْهَهَ وَ یُحَسِّنُ الْوَلَدَ وَ قَالَ مَنِ اطَّلَی فَتَدَلَّکَ بِالْحِنَّاءِ مِنْ قَرْنِهِ إِلَی قَدَمِهِ نُفِیَ عَنْهُ الْفَقْرُ.

4. And from the previous chain from Ibrahim b. Ishaq from Ismail al-Sufi from al-Abbas b. Abi al-Abbas from Ubdus b. Ibrahim al-Baghdadi who raised this narration to Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who applies henna from head to toe after using Noorah (depilatory made of lime) his poverty would end.”

 حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ عَنْ سَعِیدِ بْنِ جَنَاحٍ عَنْ سُلَیْمَانَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْجَعْفَرِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی الْحَسَنِ ع قَالَ: الْخِضَابُ بِالسَّوَادِ زِینَهٌ لِلنِّسَاءِ مَکْبَتَهٌ لِلْعَدُوِّ.

5. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Ali b. Majluwayh from Muhammad b. Abi al-Qasim from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from Mansur b. al-Abbas from Sa’eed b. Janah from Sulayman b. Ja’far al-Ja’fari from Abi al-Hassan (a.s.) who said: “Black dye is the cause of beauty for women and a cause of defeat of enemies.”

 أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُوسَی قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ع یَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنِ اطَّلَی وَ اخْتَضَبَ بِالْحِنَّاءِ آمَنَهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ ثَلَاثِ خِصَالٍ الْجُذَامِ وَ الْبَرَصِ وَ الْآکِلَهِ إِلَی طَلْیَهٍ مِثْلِهَا.

6.  It is narrated from Imam Musa Kadhim (a.s.) that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who applies Noorah and dyes his body with henna Allah would keep him away from three things  till  he  applies  them  again.  Those  three  things  are diseases like leprosy, leucoderma and scabies.”
