 حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ یَحْیَی الْعَطَّارُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ أَبِی سَعِیدٍ الْآدَمِیِّ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ الْیَعْقُوبِیِّ عَنْ أَخِیهِ سُلَیْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِلنَّبِیِّ ص عَلِّمْنِی شَیْئاً إِذَا أَنَا فَعَلْتُهُ أَحَبَّنِیَ اللَّهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَ أَحَبَّنِیَ النَّاسُ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَهُ ارْغَبْ فِیمَا عِنْدَکَ سَیُحِبُّکَ اللَّهُ وَ ازْهَدْ فِیمَا عِنْدَ النَّاسِ یُحِبَّکَ النَّاسُ.

1.  A person asked the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.), “Teach me a deed which makes me beloved for Allah in the heaven and people  on  the  earth.”  The  Holy  Prophet  (s.a.w.s.)  said, “Remain attached to Divine things so that Allah loves you and remain aloof from what people have so that they love you.”
