Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَیُّوبَ بْنِ نُوحٍ عَنِ الرَّبِیعِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ السُّلَمِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَا عُبِدَ اللَّهُ بِشَیْ ءٍ مِثْلِ الصَّمْتِ وَ الْمَشْیِ إِلَی بَیْتِ اللَّهِ.

1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ayoob’ b. Nuh from al-Rabee’ b. Muhammad al-Sulami from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “There is nothing among the worship of Allah better than silence and going to the house of Allah walking.”

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ یَحْیَی عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مَهْزِیَارَ یَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ: یَأْتِی عَلَی النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ یَکُونُ الْعَافِیَهُ عَشَرَهَ أَجْزَاءٍ تِسْعَهٌ مِنْهَا اعْتِزَالُ النَّاسِ وَ وَاحِدٌ فِی الصَّمْتِ.

2. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan from Muhammad b. Yahya from Muhammad b. Ahmad from al-Abbas b. Ma’ruf from Ali b. Mahziyar who raised it to who said: “Soon a time will come when good things will rest on only ten things. Nine of them are keeping away from people and one is keeping silent.”

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ یَحْیَی عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ مُوسَی بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ رِبَاطٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ رِجَالِهِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: لَا یَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ الْمُسْلِمُ یُکْتَبُ مُحْسِناً مَا دَامَ سَاکِتاً فَإِذَا تَکَلَّمَ کُتِبَ إِمَّا مُحْسِناً أَوْ مُسِیئاً.

3. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to us by Muhammad b. Yahya from Muhammad b. Ahmad from Musa b. ’Amru from Ali b. al-Hussain b. Ribat from some of his men from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “Good deeds are written for a Muslim till he is silent. As soon as he speaks, either a good deed or a sin is written down for him.”
