388. Reward of humility

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ عَنْ عَمِّهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ مَسْعَدَهَ بْنِ صَدَقَهَ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ ع أَنَّ عَلِیّاً ع قَالَ: مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنْ وُلْدِ آدَمَ إِلَّا وَ نَاصِیَتُهُ بِیَدِ مَلَکٍ فَإِنْ تَکَبَّرَ جَذَبَهُ بِنَاصِیَتِهِ إِلَی الْأَرْضِ وَ قَالَ لَهُ تَوَاضَعْ وَضَعَکَ اللَّهُ وَ إِنْ تَوَاضَعَ جَذَبَهُ بِنَاصِیَتِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ ارْفَعْ رَأْسَکَ رَفَعَکَ اللَّهُ وَ لَا وَضَعَکَ بِتَوَاضُعِکَ لِلَّهِ.


1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Ali Majluwayh from his uncle Muhammad b. Abi al-Qasim from Harun b. Muslim from Mas’ada b. Sadaqah from Ja’far b. Muhammad from his father (a.s.) that Ali (a.s.) who said: Keep your head up. There is a lot of honor for you near Allah and you won’t be disgraced due to your humility.”
