Al-Kāfi - Volume 3 > Description of Tayammum
Hadith #1

1ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَهْلٍ جَمِيعاً عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ التَّيَمُّمِ فَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ الأرْضَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَا فَنَفَضَهَا ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِهَا جَبِينَيْهِ وَكَفَّيْهِ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and Afi ibn Muhammad from Sahl all from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn abu Nasr from ibn Bukayr from Zurarah who has said the following: “I once asked Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about Tayammum. He (the Imam) thumped his hands on the ground then raised them, and allowed loose soil to fall off them. He (the Imam) then wiped both (sections of) his forehead (the parts above both eyebrows) and (the back of) his palms (hands) only once.”
