3. What is done with the imam (asws), from the reverberation, and the casting, and the resonating in their (asws) hearts and their (asws) ears

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْأَهْوَازِيِّ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ النَّضْرِيِّ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ الَّذِي يُسْأَلُ عَنْهُ الْإِمَامُ وَ لَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ فِيهِ شَيْ‏ءٌ مِنْ أَيْنَ يَعْلَمُهُ قَالَ يُنْكَتُ فِي الْقَلْبِ نَكْتاً أَوْ يُنْقَرُ فِي الْأُذُنِ نَقْراً.


1. It is narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al Ahwazy, from Fazalat, from Dawood Bin Farqad, from Al Haris Bin Al Mugheira Al Nazary who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah (a.s.), ‘May I be sacrificed for you (a.s.)! That which the Imam (a.s.) is asked about and there isn’t anything with him (a.s.) regarding it?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘It reverberates in his (a.s.) heart with a reverberation, or resonates in the ears with a resonance’’.




حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع الَّذِي يُسْأَلُ الْإِمَامُ وَ لَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ فِيهِ شَيْ‏ءٌ مِنْ أَيْنَ يَعْلَمُهُ قَالَ يُنْكَتُ فِي الْقَلْبِ نَكْتاً أَوْ يُنْقَرُ فِي الْأُذُنِ نَقْراً.


2. It is narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Ali Bin Abu Hamza, from Abu Baseer who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah (a.s.), ‘That which the Imam (a.s.) is asked and there isn’t anything regarding it with him (a.s.), from where does he (a.s.) know it?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘It is reverberated in the heart with a reverberation, or cast into the ears as a resonance’’.




حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ حَمْزَةَ الثَّقَفِيِّ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ أَحْيَاناً فَتُسْرِعُ فِي الْجَوَابِ وَ أَحْيَاناً تُطْرِقُ ثُمَّ تُجِيبُنَا قَالَ نَعَمْ إِنَّهُ يُنْكَتُ‏ فِي آذَانِنَا وَ قُلُوبِنَا فَإِذَا نُكِتَ نَطَقْنَا وَ إِذَا أَمْسَكَ عَنَّا أَمْسَكْنَا.


3. It is narrated to us by Imran Bin Musa, from Musa Bin Ja’far, from Amro Bin Saeed, from Isa Bin Hamza Al Saqafy who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah (a.s.), ‘We ask you (a.s.), sometimes you (a.s.) are quick in the answering, and sometimes you (a.s.) lower your (a.s.) head then answer us’. He (a.s.) said: ‘Yes, it gets resonates in our (a.s.) ears and our (a.s.) hearts. So, when it is resonated, we (a.s.) speak, and when it is withheld from us (a.s.), we (a.s.) withhold’’.




حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْأَهْوَازِيِّ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَقْطِينٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ع عَنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْعَالِمِ فَقَالَ نَكْتٌ فِي الْقَلْبِ وَ نَقْرٌ فِي‏ الْأَسْمَاعِ وَ قَدْ يَكُونَانِ مَعاً.


4. It is narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al Ahwazy, from Al Husayn Bin Ali Bin Yaqteeny, from his father who said, ‘I asked Abu Al-Hassan (a.s.) about a thing from the matters of the scholar (a.s.). He (a.s.) said: ‘It reverberates in the heart and resonates in the ears, and they have happened both together’’.




حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ‏ مُيَسِّرٍ الْمَدَائِنِيِّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْمَدَائِنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ أَخْبِرْنِي عَنِ الْإِمَامِ إِذَا سُئِلَ كَيْفَ يُجِيبُ فَقَالَ إِلْهَامٌ وَ سَمَاعٌ‏ وَ رُبَّمَا كَانَا جَمِيعاً.


5. It is narrated to us by Salama Bin Al Khattab, from Ali Bin Muyasser Al Madainy, from Al Hassan Bin Yahya Al Madainy, From Abu Abdullah (a.s.), he (the narrator) said, ‘I said to him (a.s.), ‘Inform me about the Imam (a.s.), when he (a.s.) is asked, how does he (a.s.) answer?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘Inspiration, and the hearing, and sometimes both together’’.




حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع هَذَا الْعِلْمُ الَّذِي يَعْلَمُهُ عَالِمُكُمْ أَ شَيْ‏ءٌ يُلْقَى فِي قَلْبِهِ أَوْ يُنْكَتُ فِي أُذُنِهِ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى غَفَلَ الْقَوْمُ ثُمَّ قَالَ ذَاكَ وَ ذَاكَ‏.


6. It is narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Abdul Hameed, from Yunus Bin Yaqoub, from Al Haris Bin Al Mugheira who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah (a.s.), ‘This knowledge which your (a.s.) scholar (a.s.) knows, is it a thing cast in his (a.s.) heart, or a resonance in his (a.s.) ears?’ He (a.s.) was silent until the people became heedless, then he (a.s.) said: ‘That and that’’.




حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْخَشَّابُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي سَمَّاكٍ عَنْ دَاوُدَ عَنِ الْحَرْثِ النَّضْرِيِّ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع الْإِمَامُ يُسْأَلُ الشَّيْ‏ءَ الَّذِي لَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ شَيْ‏ءٌ مِنْ أَيْنَ يَعْلَمُهُ قَالَ يُنْكَتُ فِي الْقَلْبِ نَكْتاً وَ يُنْقَرُ فِي الْأُذُنِ نَقْراً.


7. It is narrated to us by Al Hassan Bin Musa Al Khashab, from Ibrahim Bin Abu Sammak, from Dawood, from al Hars al Nazry who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah (a.s.), ‘The Imam (a.s.) gets asked about something which there isn’t anything with him (a.s.), from where does he (a.s.) know it?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘It is reverberated in the heart with a reverberation, and resonated in the ears with a resonance’’.




حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَقْطِينٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي الْحَسَنِ ع عِلْمُ عَالِمِكُمْ أَ سَمَاعٌ أَوْ إِلْهَامٌ قَالَ يَكُونُ سَمَاعاً وَ يَكُونُ إِلْهَاماً وَ يَكُونَانِ مَعاً.


8. It is narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Isa, from Ahmad Bin Al Hassan, from Muhammad Bin Abu Hamza, from Ali Bin Yaateen who said, ‘I said to Abu Al-Hassan (a.s.), ‘Knowledge of your (a.s.) scholar (a.s.), is it hearing, or inspiration?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘It happens to be hearing, and it happens to be inspiration, and they can both happen together’’




حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يُونُسَ عَنِ الْحَرْثِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع هَذَا الَّذِي يَعْلَمُهُ عَالِمُكُمْ أَ شَيْ‏ءٌ يُلْقَى فِي قَلْبِهِ أَوْ يُنْكَتُ فِي أُذُنِهِ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى غَفَلَ الْقَوْمُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي ذَاكَ وَ ذَاكَ.


9. It is narrated to us by Ali Bin Ismail, from Muhammad Bin Umar, from Amro Bin Yunus, from Al Hars who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah (a.s.), ‘This which your (a.s.) scholar (a.s.) knows, is it something cast into his (a.s.) heart, or resonated in his (a.s.) ears?’ He (a.s.) was silent until the people were not attentive, then he (a.s.) said: ‘That and that’’.




حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْبَزَنْطِيِّ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ النَّضْرِيِّ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع مَا عِلْمُ عَالِمِكُمْ جُمْلَةٌ يُقْذَفُ فِي قَلْبِهِ أَوْ يُنْكَتُ فِي أُذُنِهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ وَحْيٌ كَوَحْيِ أُمِّ مُوسَى‏.


10. It is narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al Bazanty, from Hammad Bin Usman, from Al Haris Bin Al Mugheira Al Nazary who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah (a.s.), ‘What is the knowledge of your (a.s.) scholar (a.s.), is it all cast into his (a.s.) heart, or a reverberation in his (a.s.) ears?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘A Revelation like Revelation or mother (as) of Musa (as)’’.




حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ ع عِلْمُ عَالِمِكُمْ أَ شَيْ‏ءٌ يُلْقَى فِي قَلْبِهِ أَوْ يُنْكَتُ فِي أُذُنِهِ فَقَالَ نَقْرٌ فِي الْقُلُوبِ‏ وَ نَكْتٌ فِي الْأَسْمَاعِ وَ قَدْ يَكُونَانِ مَعاً.


11. It is narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Isa, from Abu Abdullah Al Husayn Bin Ali who said, ‘I said to Abu Ibrahim (7 (th) Imam (a.s.)), ‘Knowledge of your (a.s.) scholar (a.s.), is it a thing cast into his (a.s.) heart, or resonated in his (a.s.) ears?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘It reverberates in the heart, and resonates in the hears, and they have both happened together’’.




حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حُمْرَانَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ السِّمْطِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ النَّجَاشِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: قَالَ فِينَا وَ اللَّهِ مَنْ يُنْقَرُ فِي أُذُنِهِ وَ يُنْكَتُ فِي قَلْبِهِ وَ تُصَافِحُهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ قُلْتُ كَانَ أَوِ الْيَوْمَ‏ قَالَ بَلِ الْيَوْمَ قُلْتُ كَانَ أَوِ الْيَوْمَ قَالَ بَلِ الْيَوْمَ وَ اللَّهِ يَا ابْنَ النَّجَاشِيِّ حَتَّى قَالَهَا ثَلَاثاً.


12. It is narrated to us by Ibn Yazeed, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Muhammad Bin Humran, from Sufyan Bin Al Simt, from Abdullah Bin Al Najjashi, ‘From Abu Abdullah (a.s.) having said: ‘By Allah ! Among us (a.s.) there is one it resonates in his (a.s.) ears, and reverberates in his (a.s.) heart, and the Angels shake his (a.s.) hand’. I said, ‘It used to happen, or (it happens) today?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘But today’. I said, ‘It used to happen, or (it happens) today?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘But, today. By Allah ! O Ibn Al-Najjashi!’ – until he (a.s.) said it thrice’’.




حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عَنْبَسَةَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حُمْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ السِّمْطِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْخَيْرِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِنِّي سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الْحَسَنِ فَزَعَمَ أَنْ لَيْسَ فِيكُمْ إِمَامٌ فَقَالَ بَلَى وَ اللَّهِ يَا ابْنَ النَّجَاشِيِّ إِنَّ فِينَا لَمَنْ يُنْكَتُ فِي قَلْبِهِ وَ يُوقَرُ فِي أُذُنِهِ وَ يُصَافِحُهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ قَالَ قُلْتُ فِيكُمْ قَالَ إِي وَ اللَّهِ فِينَا الْيَوْمَ إِي وَ اللَّهِ فِينَا الْيَوْمَ ثَلَاثاً.


13. It is narrated to us by Al Hassan Bin Ali, from Anbasa, from Ibrahim Bin Muhammad Bin Humran, from his father, and Muhammad Bin Abu Hamza, from Sufyan Bin Al Simt who said, ‘Abu Al Khayr narrated to me who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah (a.s.), ‘I asked Abdullah Bin Al-Hassan, and he claimed that there isn’t any Imam (a.s.) among you all’. He (a.s.) said: ‘Yes, by Allah , O ibn Al-Najjashi! Among us (a.s.) is one it is reverberated in his (a.s.) heart, and resonated in his (a.s.) heart and the Angels shake his (a.s.) hand’. He (the narrator) said, ‘I said, ‘Among you (Imams (a.s.))?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘Yes, by Allah ! Among us (a.s.) today! Yes, by Allah ! Among us (a.s.) today!’ – thrice’’.
