1. It is narrated to us by Al Hassan Bin Ali Bin Abdullah, from Ubeys Bin Hisham, from Suleyman, ‘From Abu Abdullah (a.s.), he (the narrator) said, ‘A man asked him (a.s.) about the Imam (a.s.), ‘Does Allah (azwj) Delegate to him (a.s.) just as He (azwj) had Delegated to Suleyman (as)?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘Yes’. And that is because a man had asked him (a.s.) about an issue and he (a.s.) answered him regarding it; and another man asked about that very (same) issue and he (a.s.) answered him (a.s.) with another answer to the first; then another one asked about it and he (a.s.) answered with another answer to the two former ones. Then he (a.s.) said: ‘This is Our Gift, so either confer or give without a Reckoning [38:39] - and like this it is in the recitation of Ali (a.s.)’’. He (the narrator) said, ‘I said, ‘May Allah (azwj) Keep you (a.s.) well! When he (a.s.) answered them with this answer, the Imam (a.s.) recognised them?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘Glory be to Allah (azwj)! Have you not heard Words of Allah (azwj) the Exalted in His (azwj) Book: Surely, in that are Signs for the distinguishers [15:75], and they (a.s.) are the Imams (a.s.)’. (And as for) And it is on an enduring way [15:76], he (a.s.) said: ‘It will not exit from us (a.s.), ever!’ Then he (a.s.) said: ‘Yes, surely the Imam (a.s.), when he (a.s.) looks at a man, recognises his type, and if he (a.s.) hears his voice from behind a wall, would recognise him and recognise what he is, because Allah (azwj) Says: And from His Signs is the Creation of the skies and the earth and the diversity of your tongues and your colours. Surely there are Signs in that for the learned [30:22]. So, these are the scholars, and he (a.s.) would not hear anything from the tongues except he (a.s.) would recognise a rescued one or a destroyed one. So, due to that, he (a.s.) answers them with that which he (a.s.) answers them with’’.
