11. Regarding amir al-momineen (asws), rasool-allah (saww) participated him (asws) in the knkowledge, and did not participate him (asws) in the prophet-hood, and mention of the two pomegranates

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ حُمْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: إِنَّ جَبْرَئِيلَ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص بِرُمَّانَتَيْنِ فَأَكَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص إِحْدَاهُمَا وَ كَسَرَ الْأُخْرَى بِنِصْفَيْنِ فَأَكَلَ نِصْفَهَا وَ أَطْعَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ عَلِيّاً نِصْفَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يَا أَخِي هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا هَاتَيْنِ الرُّمَّانَتَيْنِ قَالَ لَا قَالَ أَمَّا الْأُولَى فَالنُّبُوَّةُ لَيْسَ لَكَ فِيهَا شَيْ‏ءٌ وَ أَمَّا الْأُخْرَى فَالْعِلْمُ أَنْتَ شَرِيكِي فِيهِ فَقُلْتُ أَصْلَحَكَ اللَّهُ كَيْفَ يَكُونُ شَرِيكَهُ فِيهِ قَالَ لَا يُعَلِّمُ اللَّهُ مُحَمَّداً عِلْماً إِلَّا وَ أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُعَلِّمَ عَلِيّاً.


1. It is narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Al Husayn and Yaqoub Bin Yazeed, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Ibn Uzina, from Abdullah Bin Suleyman, from Humran, ‘From Abu Ja’far (a.s.) having said: ‘Jibraeel (as) came to Rasool-Allah (saww) with two pomegranates. Rasool-Allah (saww) ate one of them and broke the other in two halves. He (saww) ate half of it and Rasool-Allah (saww) fed Ali (a.s.) (the other) half. Then Rasool-Allah (saww) said: ‘O Ali (a.s.)! Do you (a.s.) know what these two pomegranates are?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘No’. He (saww) said: ‘As for the first, it is the Prophet-hood. There isn’t anything in it for you (a.s.). And as for the other, it is the knowledge. You (a.s.) are my (a.s.) participant in it’. I (the narrator) said: ‘May Allah (azwj) Keep you (a.s.) well! How can he (a.s.) happen to be his (saww) participant in it?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘Allah (azwj) did not Teach Muhammad any knowledge except and He (azwj) Commanded him (saww) to teach it to Ali (a.s.)’’.




حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ: نَزَلَ جَبْرَئِيلُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ ص بِرُمَّانَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ مَا أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُمَا فَأَكَلَ وَاحِدَةً وَ كَسَرَ الْأُخْرَى فَأَعْطَى عَلِيّاً نِصْفَهَا فَأَكَلَهَا فَقَالَ يَا عَلِيُّ أَمَّا الرُّمَّانَةُ الْأُولَى الَّتِي أَكَلْتَهَا فَالنُّبُوَّةُ فَلَيْسَ لَكَ فِيهَا شَيْ‏ءٌ وَ أَمَّا الْأُخْرَى فَهِيَ الْعِلْمُ فَأَنْتَ شَرِيكِي فِيهِ.


2. It is narrated to us by Ibrahim Bin hashim, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Umar Bin Uzina, from Zurara who said, ‘Jibraeel (as) descended unto Muhammad (saww) with two pomegranates from the Paradise and gave these two to him (saww). He (saww) ate one and broke the other and gave Ali (a.s.) half of it, so he (a.s.) ate it. He (saww) said: ‘O Ali (a.s.)! As for the first pomegranate which I (saww) ate, it is the Prophet-hood, and there isn’t anything in it for you (a.s.), and as for the other, it is the knowledge, and you (a.s.) are my (saww) participant in it’’.




حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ يُونُسَ عَنِ ابْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ع يَقُولُ‏ نَزَلَ جَبْرَئِيلُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ ص بِرُمَّانَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَلَقِيَهُ عَلِيٌّ ع فَقَالَ لَهُ مَا هَاتَانِ الرُّمَّانَتَانِ اللَّتَانِ فِي يَدِكَ فَقَالَ أَمَّا هَذِهِ فَالنُّبُوَّةُ لَيْسَ لَكَ فِيهَا نَصِيبٌ وَ أَمَّا هَذِهِ فَالْعِلْمُ ثُمَّ فَلَقَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص فَأَعْطَاهُ نِصْفَهَا وَ أَخَذَ نِصْفَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَا أَنْتَ شَرِيكِي فِيهِ وَ أَنَا شَرِيكُكَ فِيهِ قَالَ فَلَمْ يُعَلِّمِ اللَّهُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص حَرْفاً مِمَّا عَلَّمَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى إِلَّا عَلَّمَهُ عَلِيّاً ع.


3. It is narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Abdul Hameed, from Mansour Bin Yunus, from Ibn Uzina, from Muhammad Bin Muslim who said, ‘I heard Abu Ja’far (a.s.) saying: ‘Jibraeel (as) descended unto Muhammad (saww) with two pomegranates from the Paradise. He (saww) met Ali (a.s.). He (a.s.) said to him (saww): ‘What are these two pomegranates in your (saww) hand?’ He (saww) said: ‘As for this, it is the Prophet-hood. There isn’t any share for you (a.s.) in it; and as for this, it is the knowledge’. Then Rasool-Allah (saww) split it and gave him (a.s.) half of it, and Rasool-Allah (saww) took half of it, then said: ‘But you (a.s.) are my (saww) participant in it, and I (saww) am your (saww) participant in it’. He (Abu Ja’far (a.s.)) said: ‘Allah (azwj) did not Teach him (saww) a single word from what Allah (azwj) the Exalted Taught him (saww), except he (saww) taught it to Ali (a.s.)’’.




حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ وَ يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: إِنَّ جَبْرَئِيلَ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص بِرُمَّانَتَيْنِ فَأَكَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص إِحْدَاهُمَا وَ كَسَرَ الْأُخْرَى بِنِصْفَيْنِ فَأَكَلَ نِصْفَهَا وَ أَطْعَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص عَلِيّاً ع نِصْفَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا هَاتَيْنِ قَالَ لَا قَالَ أَمَّا الْأُولَى فَالنُّبُوَّةُ لَيْسَ لَكَ فِيهَا نَصِيبٌ وَ أَمَّا الْأُخْرَى فَالْعِلْمُ أَنْتَ شَرِيكِي فِيهِ فَقُلْتُ أَصْلَحَكَ اللَّهُ كَيْفَ يَكُونُ شَرِيكَهُ فِيهِ قَالَ لَمْ يُعَلِّمِ اللَّهُ مُحَمَّداً ص عِلْماً إِلَّا أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُعَلِّمَهُ عَلِيّاً ع.


4. He (saww) said: ‘As for the rifts, it is the Prophet-hood, there isn’t any share in it for you (a.s.); and as for the other, it is the knowledge. You (a.s.) are my (saww) participant in it’. I (the narrator) said, ‘May Allah (azwj) Keep you (a.s.) well! How can he (a.s.) be his (saww) participant in it?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘Allah (azwj) did not Teach Muhammad (saww) any knowledge except He (azwj) Commanded him (saww) to teach it to Ali (a.s.)’’.




حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجْرَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ: نَزَلَ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ ص بِرُمَّانَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَأَعْطَاهُمَا إِيَّاهُ فَأَكَلَ وَاحِدَةً وَ كَسَرَ الْأُخْرَى فَأَعْطَاهُ عَلِيّاً ع نِصْفَهَا فَأَكَلَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا عَلِيُّ أَمَّا الرُّمَّانَةُ الَّتِي أَكَلْتُهَا فَهِيَ النُّبُوَّةُ لَيْسَ لَكَ فِيهَا نَصِيبٌ وَ أَمَّا هَذِهِ فَالْعِلْمُ فَأَنْتَ شَرِيكِي فِيهَا قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ كَيْفَ شَارَكَهُ فِيهَا قَالَ لَا وَ اللَّهِ لَمْ يُعَلِّمِ اللَّهُ نَبِيَّهُ شَيْئاً إِلَّا أَمَرَهُ أَنْ‏ يُعَلِّمَهُ عَلِيّاً ع فَهُوَ شَرِيكُهُ فِي الْعِلْمِ.


5. It is narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Abdul Jabbar, from Ibn Abu Najran, from Ibn Uzina, from Zurara who said, ‘Jibraeel (as) descended unto Muhammad (saww) with two pomegranates from the Paradise. He (as) gave these two to him (saww). He (saww) ate one and broke the other, and gave Ali (a.s.) half of it, and he (saww) ate the (other) half, then said: ‘O Ali (a.s.)! As for the pomegranate which I (saww) ate, it is the Prophet-hood, there isn’t any share in it for you (a.s.), and as for this (the other pomegranate), it is the knowledge, you (a.s.) are my (saww) participant in it’. He (the narrator) said, ‘I said to Abu Ja’far (a.s.), ‘May I be sacrificed for you (a.s.)! How did he (a.s.) become his (saww) participant in it?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘No, by Allah (azwj)! Allah (azwj) did not Teach His (azwj) Prophet (saww) anything, except He (azwj) Commanded him (saww) to teach it to Ali (a.s.), thus he (saww) participated him (a.s.) in the knowledge’’.




حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ جَمِيلٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: وَرِثَ عَلِيٌّ ع عِلْمَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ وَرِثَتْ فَاطِمَةُ تَرِكَتَهُ.


6. It is narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Musa, from Yaqoub Bin Yazeed, from Muhammad Bin Abu Umeyr, from Jameel, from Zurara, ‘From Abu Ja’far (a.s.) having said: ‘Ali (a.s.) inherited the knowledge of Rasool-Allah (saww), and (Syeda) Fatima (a.s.) inherited his (saww) estate’’.




حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‏ أَنَّ عَلِيّاً وَرِثَ عِلْمَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ فَاطِمَةَ أَحْرَزَتِ الْمِيرَاثَ.


7. It is narrated to us by Yaqoub Bin Yazeed Bin Umeyr, from Hammad Bin Isa, ‘From Abu Abdullah (a.s.): ‘Ali (a.s.) inherited the knowledge of Rasool-Allah (saww), and (Syeda) Fatima (a.s.) attained the inheritance (which was usurped later on)’’.




حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنِ ابْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ عَنِ الْمُنَخَّلِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع‏ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى‏ اللَّهُ نُورُ السَّماواتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ مَثَلُ نُورِهِ‏ فَهُوَ مُحَمَّدٌ فِيها مِصْباحٌ‏ وَ هُوَ الْعِلْمُ‏ الْمِصْباحُ فِي زُجاجَةٍ فَزَعَمَ أَنَّ الزَّجَاجَةَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع وَ عِلْمَ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ عِنْدَهُ‏.


8. It is narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, from Ibn Sinan, from Ammar Bin Marwan, from Al Munakhal, from Jabir, ‘From Abu Ja’far (a.s.) regarding the Words of the Blessed and Exalted: Allah is Light of the skies and the earth. An example of His Light is like a niche – it is Muhammad (saww), wherein is a lamp, - and it is the knowledge, the lamp is in a glass, [24:35]’. He (a.s.) claimed that the glass is Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) and the knowledge of the Prophet (saww) of Allah (azwj) is with him (a.s.)’’.




حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ سَيْفٍ عَنْ حَسَّانَ عَنْ أَبِي دَاوُدَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ شَرْجِيلٍ‏ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ص قَالَ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ع هَذَا أَفْضَلُكُمْ حِلْماً وَ أَعْلَمُكُمْ عِلْماً وَ أَقْدَمُكُمْ سِلْماً قَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فُضِّلْنَا بِالْخَيْرِ كُلِّهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ص مَا عُلِّمْتُ شَيْئاً إِلَّا وَ قَدْ عَلَّمْتُهُ وَ مَا أُعْطِيتُ شَيْئاً إِلَّا وَ قَدْ أَعْطَيْتُهُ وَ لَا اسْتُودِعْتُ شَيْئاً إِلَّا وَ قَدِ اسْتَوْدَعْتُهُ قَالُوا فَأَمْرُ نِسَائِكَ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالُوا فِي حَيَاتِكَ قَالَ نَعَمْ مَنْ عَصَاهُ فَقَدْ عَصَانِي وَ مَنْ أَطَاعَهُ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَنِي فَإِنْ دَعَاكُمْ فَاشْهَدُوا.


9. It is narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Sayf, from Hassan, from Abu Dawood, from Yazeed Bin Shirjeel, ‘The Prophet (saww) said for Ali (a.s.) Bin Abu Talib (a.s.): ‘This is most superior of you in forbearance, and most knowledgeable of you in knowledge, and most advanced of you in the ladder’. Ibn Masoud said, ‘O Rasool-Allah (saww)! He (a.s.) preferential over us with the goodness, all of it’. The Prophet (saww) said: ‘I (saww) have not been Taught anything except and I (saww) have taught it to him (a.s.), and I (saww) have not been Given anything except and I (saww) gave it to him (a.s.), nor have I (saww) been entrusted with anything except and I (saww) have entrusted it to him (a.s.)’. They said, ‘The matter of your (saww) wives is up to him (a.s.)?’ He (saww) said: ‘Yes’. They said, ‘During your (saww) lifetime?’ He (saww) said: ‘Yes, one who disobeys him (a.s.) so he has disobeyed me (a.s.), and one who obeys him (a.s.) so he has obeyed me (saww), thus if he (a.s.) were to call your, then attend’’.




حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ الْهَجَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: إِنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ع كَانَ هِبَةَ اللَّهِ لِمُحَمَّدٍ ص وَرِثَ عِلْمَ الْأَوْصِيَاءِ وَ عِلْمَ مَا كَانَ قَبْلَهُ أَمَا إِنَّ محمد [مُحَمَّداً] ص قَدْ وَرِثَ عِلْمَ مَا كَانَ قَبْلَهُ مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَ الْأَوْصِيَاءِ وَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ.


10. It is narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Abdullah Bin Bukeyr Al Hajary, ‘From Abu Ja’far (a.s.) having said: ‘Ali Bin Abu Talib (a.s.) was Hibtullah (as) for Muhammad (saww), inheriting knowledge of the successors (as) and knowledge of what had happened before him (a.s.). As for Muhammad (saww), he (saww) had inherited knowledge of what had happened before him (saww), from the Prophets (as), and the successors (as), and the Messengers (as)’’.
