17. Regarding the words of the imams (asws) to their (asws) shias: ‘had there been locks upon their mouths, and they would conceal upon themselves, i (asws) would inform them with the entirety of what would be afflicting them, from the deaths and the afflictions, and something else’.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْكَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَصِيرٍ يَقُولُ‏ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع مِنْ أَيْنَ أَصَابَ أَصْحَابَ عَلِيٍّ مَا أَصَابَهُمْ مَعَ عِلْمِهِمْ بِمَنَايَاهُمْ وَ بَلَايَاهُمْ قَالَ فَأَجَابَنِي شِبْهَ الْمُغْضَبِ مِمَّ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا مِنْهُمْ‏ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَمَا يَمْنَعُكَ جَعَلَنِي اللَّهُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ ذَاكَ بَابٌ أُغْلِقَ إِلَّا أَنَّ الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ع فَتَحَ مِنْهُ شَيْئاً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ إِنَّ أُولَئِكَ كَانَتْ عَلَى أَفْوَاهِهِمْ أَوْكِيَةٌ.


1. It is narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Ibn Muskan who said, ‘I heard Abu Baseer saying, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah (a.s.), ‘From where were the companions of Ali (a.s.) afflicted by what afflicted them of their deaths and their afflictions?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘He (a.s.) answered me resembling the anger, ‘From who was that except from them?’ He (the narrator) said, ‘I said, ‘What prevents you (a.s.)? May I be sacrificed for you (a.s.)!’ He (a.s.) said: ‘That is a closed door, except that Al-Husayn (a.s.) Bin Ali (a.s.). He (a.s.) opened something from it’. Then he (a.s.) said: ‘O Abu Muhammad! They (a.s.) were those having locks upon their mouths’’.




حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَامِرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ مِثْلَهُ.


2. It is narrated to us by Abdullah Bin Aamir, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Is’haq Bin Ammar, from Abu Baseer – similar to it.




حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع مَنْ لَنَا أَنْ يُحَدِّثَنَا كَمَا كَانَ عَلِيٌّ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يُحَدِّثُ أَصْحَابَهُ بِأَيَّامِهِمْ وَ تِلْكَ الْمُعْضِلَاتِ فَقَالَ أَمَا إِنَّ فِيكُمْ مِثْلَهُ أُولَئِكَ كَانَ عَلَى أَفْوَاهِهِمْ أَوْكِيَةٌ.


3. It is narrated to us by Muhammad Bin Ahmad, from Ahmad Bin Hilal, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Muhammad Bin Hakeem, from Abu Baseer who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah (a.s.), ‘Who is for us who would narrate to us just as Ali (a.s.) Amir Al-Momineen (a.s.) used to narrate to his (a.s.) companions, with their days, and those dilemmas?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘But, among you is his (a.s.) example. They were those having locks upon their mouths’’.




حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّالُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ اللُّؤْلُؤِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَصْلَحَكَ اللَّهُ مِنْ أَيْنَ أَصَابَ أَصْحَابَ عَلِيٍّ مَا أصابوا في [أَصَابَهُمْ مَعَ‏] عِلْمِهِمْ بِمَنَايَاهُمْ وَ بَلَايَاهُمْ فَأَجَابَنِي شِبْهَ الْمُغْضَبِ مِمَّ ذَاكَ إِلَّا مِنْهُمْ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَمَا يَمْنَعُكَ جَعَلَنِيَ اللَّهُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ ذَلِكَ بَابٌ قَدْ أُغْلِقَ إِلَّا أَنَّ الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ع فَتَحَ مِنْهُ شَيْئاً يَسِيراً ثُمَّ قَالَ أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ إِنَّ أُولَئِكَ كَانَتْ عَلَى أَفْوَاهِهِمْ أَوْكِيَةٌ.


4. It is narrated to us by Al Hajjal, from Al Hassan Bin Husayn Al Luluie, from Ibn Sinan, from Is’haq Bin Ammar, from Abu Baseer who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah (a.s.), ‘May Allah (azwj) Keep you well! From where were the companions of Ali (a.s.) afflicted what they were afflicted with despite their knowing of their deaths and their afflictions?’ He (a.s.) answered me resembling the anger: ‘What was that from except from them?’ I said, ‘So what prevents you (a.s.)? May I be sacrificed for you (a.s.)!’ He (a.s.) said: ‘That is a door which has been closed, except that Al-Husayn (a.s.) Bin Ali (a.s.) opened something from it, a little’. Then he (a.s.) said: ‘Abu Muhammad! Those, they had locks upon their mouths’’.




حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَزْدِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ مَا لَنَا مَنْ يُحَدِّثُنَا بِمَا يَكُونُ كَمَا كَانَ عَلِيٌّ ع يُحَدِّثُ أَصْحَابَهُ قَالَ بَلَى وَ اللَّهِ وَ إِنَّ ذَاكَ لَكُمْ وَ لَكِنْ هَاتِ حَدِيثاً وَاحِداً حَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِهِ فَكَتَمْتُمْ فَسَكَتُّ فَوَ اللَّهِ مَا حَدَّثَنِي بِحَدِيثٍ إِلَّا وَ قَدْ حَدَّثْتُهُ بِهِ‏.


5. It is narrated to us by Yaqoub Bin Yazeed, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Bakr Bin Muhammad Al Azdy, from Abu Baseer, ‘From Abu Abdullah (a.s.), he (the narrator) said, ‘I said to him (a.s.), ‘There is no one for us to narrate to us with what would be happening (in the future) just as Ali (a.s.) used to narrate to his (a.s.) companions?’ He (a.s.) said: ‘Yes, by Allah (azwj), and even that can be for you, but give me (a.s.) one Hadeeth I (a.s.) have narrated to you and you have concealed it’. I was silent, for by Allah (azwj), he (a.s.) had not narrated to me any Hadeeth except and I had narrated it’’.
